The installation of this system is amazingly easy thanks to its excellant design. As tends to be the case, the hardest part of the install is finding a place where everything will fit. Due to the removal of my stock airbox, I had a large area under my filter. Although the space under the filter is cramped, there is enough room. You should start with a base to mount all of your components. As you can tell from the picture below, your mounting base should be at least 8 x 11. The removal of the top right corner of the base is needed due to wheel intrusion. I assembled all the components on the base and then secured the whole system to the car via the stock rubber bushings and a 3/8 stainless bolt. To accommodate the 3/8 bolt, the bushing must be drilled out prior to installation. With the bushing in place, place your base in the car and mark where you need to drill the hole. Before you continue, now is a good time to ziptie and wire loom any loose wires up. Also check and insure the fuse is not installed. Once everything is in order, align the assembled unit in the car and secure it with the 3/8 bolt.

The actual wiring will go very quickly. First connect the positive and negative wires to the battery in that order. The red is clearly marked positive and the black clearly marked negative. Now locate the grounding wire on the coil and secure it to a chassis ground point. I used the grounding point that the stock coil also uses. The next 2 connections are from the stock coil to the Pro Streets secondary coil, and from the Ultra Coil to the stock distributor. In a pinch 2 extra spark plug wires will work, but I suggest you contact an ignition wire maker about some custom wires. If you must use old spark plug wires, cut the last 3/4 of an inch off of the spark plug side. This allows the connection to be complete, and more secure. A better option would be custom wires. Magnecor was able to make me a set for a good price. The specs are 13" x 8.5mm. On one end they have an HEI connection and on the other the stock Volvo connector. Whatever option you use, one wires goes from the stock coil to the secondary trigger, the other from the new coil to the distributor.

Double check all your connections now!! If everything looks ok, install the provided fuse. You may see a couple sparks when installing the fuse. The sparks are completely normal and are no cause for alarm. Install the fuse's dust cover and secure it. Now is the moment of truth. Your car should start with no problems. If everything is installed correctly, both lights on the Jacobs system will be on. The Jacobs Electronics site has a trouble shooting guide should any problems arise.
