This guide on how to install European side turn signals is divided into two sections. The first describes the removal of the stock Volvo emblems, and the second details the actual installation. This procedure is only necessary for vehicles that are not pre-wired
Emblem Removal
The emblem is held on with adhesive. Towards the middle of the emblem there are plastic guides that fit in the hole in the fender. The most practical way to remove the emblems is with either dental floss or fishing string, using a slow sawing motion as shown below. IPD recommends that you heat the adhesive before you start. I find the safest way is to to leave your car out in the sun for a couple of hours, weather and season permitting. If you have to resort to artificial heat, proceed with caution as overheating can result in paint damage.

Once the emblem is removed you will be left with a layer of adhesive on your car. Rub off any excess with your finger, and then remove the residual with WD40 or a similar product. As soon as all the adhesive is removed wipe off any remaining WD40 and promptly wash and wax that area of the car. You should now see something like the picture below.

Side Turn Signal Installation

Open your hood and look behind your driver side headlamp. You should see the spring that retains the front turn signals. Using a long screw driver or similar instrument pull back on the spring to release the front turn lamp. Once the spring is out of its "V" shaped groove you should be able to pull the lamp out and place it on the bumper.
