If you assembled the fittings together correctly, you now have an elbow on one side and what is shown below on the other.

For the custom hose you are going to have to make a trip to your local auto store, that can crimp hoses. Provide them with the hose you obtained from the junkyard. Explain that you need a hose built using the 2 fittings on the stock hose, only 20 inches long not 12. They should be able to carefully remove the 2 stock fittings and install them on a new longer hose.

With the car in the air and the under tray removed, locate the lower cooler hose. Unplug it from the stock cooler, and allow the cooler to drain. Removal instructions for this hose can be found at Bay 13 under transmission flush procedures. Now follow the hose back to the transmission and remove it. Set that hose to the side for the moment. Now take the custom hose you just built and screw it into the transmission where you just removed the other hose. Once it is installed and tightened, plug it into the bottom of the new cooler and reinstall the clip. You are now done with that hose. The hose you removed has 2 fittings. One that is a clip style and one that is a compression style. Cut off the compression style fitting. Now install the NPT compression fitting you bought using the hard line instructions that should have come with it. Hard line instructions are the instructions that you use to connect a compression fitting to a hard line. You have now fabricated the second hose you need. Screw the compression side of the hose onto the elbow on the new cooler. Now all that's left is to plug the hose into the stock cooler. Check all the fittings and re-install the under tray. Before you start the car add at least 3/4 of a quart of transmission fluid. Once that is done, start the car and check for leaks. Check the level of the transmission fluid again and adjust if necessary. Congratulations!! You just completed one of the more difficult modifications.
