Removal Of Rear Tail Light Lens

The first step in this procedure is to remove the two retainers.  This can be accomplished with a flat head screw driver and pry as seen above.

Next, with the removal of one more retainer you can pull back the interior trim to reveal the bulb holder as well as the emergency gas tank release.  Squeeze the two tabs together to remove the holder from the car. Careful! Don't break the tabs.  There is more than enough slack in the wires to place the holder down and out of the way.

Now, with an 8mm socket, remove the four bolts that hold the lens in place.  As soon as you have done this the old lens will slide right out.  

This is what you should be looking at now.  If you see debris in your tail light such as leaves or moisture this is one possible place to look.  The part will cost app. $100.00 from the dealer.  The most common reason to replace the part is a cracked lens or a broken seal.  Once whatever repair has been completed reinstall the lens and bulb holder by going in reverse order.
