850 Door Panel Removal
From: Bay 13

To start the removal of the door panel, I make sure the window is raised and with a small screwdriver I close the door latch so the interior lights will go off. The speaker grill will come off by just prying gently. Next take off the black plastic handle by just grabbing it pulling up. The trim panel in the recess has three clips holding it in place, the newer 850s have clips that will snap off rather easy but the older ones have a white holder that is a little more difficult. Just pry the panel off and you can get the white clips out to be reused after the door panel is off.

Leave the panel clips in place until the door panel is off, then you can push them out from the back and put them back into the slots on the trim piece. Remove the two 30mm torx screws. I haven't showed it in this picture but the speaker has 4 torx screws holding it to the insert in the door panel, the bottom right torx screw is a long one and also holds the door panel in place, remove it (I think it's a 20mm).

The bottom of the panel has 4 small torx screws holding it in place, remove them. If you are using a drill be careful when putting them back in they are thin and tend to snap. Around the front (bottom) just out of the picture is a small plastic torx in an insert that expands when you screw in the plastic screw, take out the screw and then pry out the insert.

Once all of the screws and such are out you can remove the panel by pulling out slightly on the bottom and pushing up. I push more on the left side and the panel will cock slightly. The speaker is going to come with the panel and you need to clear the hole it sits back in, just work it slowly and it will come out. When going back in, getting the handle trim over the handle is about the hardest part, once again take your time. With the door panel off you have access to the window regulator, the door lock mechanism and the rear window channel that often breaks and falls down into the innards of the door. Pull off the black plastic cover on the left allows access to the door lock, and you can also lubricate the left bottom of the window. The white plastic piece on the bottom right will allow you to get at the right side of the window bottom.
