Spiral Cell Battery

GNB/Optmia makes batteries for several companies. All of their spiral cell batteries are similar with small differences in CCAs. For my purposes I opted for a Champion Gold battery. At 32º F this batteries is rated at 950 cranking amps. As a side note Champion batteries for cars are now sold under another name. The main advantages of a spiral cell battery are mounting options and durability. Due to their nature, spiral cell batteries are also typically lighter.


Custom Magnecore Wires

I have not a single bad thing to say about these wires. I placed an order for them on a Wednesday, and had them in my hands the following Monday. While delivery times can vary, I have not heard of a single person waiting longer than two weeks. The wires shown above are for an aftermarket ignition system. The use of a HEI connection on the new coil prevented a conventional wire from being used. Magnecor can build something to fit almost any application. When you call just make sure to know the length, gauge, connector style, and angle of boots you need.


Magnecor Ignition Wires

The fit is excellent. It should take less than 30 minutes to install them, assuming that you are only changing the wires. The only snag was the retaining clips. The increased diameter of the wires made them hard to re-insert and in one case was impossible.


Tsunami Battery Terminals

What is nice about these terminals is they are readily available at both local stores and off of E-bay at a low cost. A complete install should costl under 40 dollars. Any future accessories can also be easily added, which is something that cannot be claimed by other companies.


Jacobs Pro Street Ignition

Performance of this unit will vary with the application. If your vehicle is stock, you will not feel any major difference. It is worth noting a mileage increase, but in my opinion mileage alone is not enough to justify the cost of this system. On the other hand, if you have a car running high boost prone to misfire, this may be just what you are looking for. Remarkably I was able to run 20 psi with a .046 gap with no misfires at all. Keep in mind as with all ignition systems, you're going to have accelerated plug, cap, and rotor wear.


Denso Iridium Spark Plugs

There are three basic concerns when shopping for a spark plug, idle quality, performance, and longevity. From what I have found, copper seems to idle the best as well as offer the best starts. The downside is copper plugs show gap erosion at around 7,000 miles. While platinum plugs last well beyond 7,000 miles, they do not perform as well as copper. This is where Denso enters the picture. Denso claims good all around performance as well as longevity with their iridium plugs. Start up and idle is at least as good as with copper plugs, and better than platinum plugs. Longevity has yet to be determined.
