Rating: 9
Water/Methanol injection is used by several race teams for many reasons. The primary reasons include detonation reduction, as well as an octane rating increase. With detonation held back, the car is able to run more boost or more advanced timing, leading to higher power outputs at safer engine temperatures. An often over looked aspect of water injection is its cleaning properties. As water hits the cylinder walls and vaporizes, it sluffs off carbon build up in the engine. The most important factor to remember though, is more water is not better. Only introduce water when it is needed and at a volume that is needed.

Fit: 8
For a product not specifically designed for a Volvo, this kit fits with very little fuss. If you have a strut bar installed in your car, this system installs readily. Even without a strut bar, the system can be fitted to the bumpers with very little headache. The only items I purchased separately, as shown above are, the mount, 5/16 fuel hose, and the extra red tubing that was needed for a trunk mount tank. Click here for installation instructions.

Finish: 9
The finish on this kit is remarkable. Every bolt, nut, wire, or fasteners you will need is included, right down to the M8 tap. The only complaint I have about the finish is the gauge used on some of the wires. The small gauge and utilization of stainless steel wires made them very hard to work with.

Performance: 10
The combination of pump and jet, produce a lot of mist to my surprise Using an exhaust gas temperature gauge (EGT), I noted a consistent 100 degree drop in temperature at wide open throttle (WOT). With a large enough tank, 1-2 gallons, the system is very low maintenance. Depending on driving style and how the system is set up, 2 gallons should last several tanks of fuel before it requires refilling. As an aside, make sure the alcohol you use is methanol and not any other type of alcohol which can be very hard on seals.

Note: I will publish any issues as they arise.
