Have your driving habits taken you past the capability of only upgraded pads and rotors?

Porsche Brake Kit Available From EST
Rating scale is from 1 to 10. Low being 1 high being 10
Rating: 8.7
This is a very well put together kit. If
your car is not lowered, it can be installed in your driveway in under 2 hours
with only a few common tools. If your car is lowered, check the lower control
arm clearance before driving the car. So who needs this kit? Ignoring people
who track their car, probably no one. Who would enjoy having this kit on their
car? Everyone!

The initial installation of the kit
went without incident. It is when I started to fine-tune the system a few
issues arose up. The first thing noticed was there were no shims for the brakes.
The next thing noticed is that with a lowered car there is a fitment issue
with the lower control arms. A .5 - camber was needed as well as a little
grinding. If it were not for those obstacles, this kit would install easily
in under an hour. One other point worth mentioning is, these rotors are not
hub centric and do not use the 10mm retainer. This can make the correct alignment
tough. See installation
instructions.
Finish: 9
These are basically OEM parts so the
finish is superb. All the brackets were plated, and all the tolerances were
tight. I did express some concern about the original bolts supplied with the
kit, and the issue was addressed.
Performance: 10
Wow! What more is there to say? Typically
brake upgrades do not provide a huge difference in breaking distance at normal
speeds for the first stop. I originally considered the kit as a way to help
control green fade during repeated braking. After the installation though
I thought I was feeling a reduction in braking distance. This was later confirmed
with the Tazzo Performance
Meter. The provided pads are very much street pads though and offer the
best stopping distance on the first stop. For a true performance oriented
driver I would suggest a more aggressive pad that performs better as it heats
up.
Note: I will publish any issues as they arise.
