Sparco Competition Harness

You have the seats, you have the roll cage, are you really going to use the stock belts?

Sparco Cam Lock Harness from Hard Racing

Rating scale is from 1 to 10. Low being 1 high being 10

Rating: 8
This harness takes its job very seriously. If you want to become one with the car, get these belts. If you race, get these belts. If you are going to show your car, get these belts. But do not get these belts if you just think they just look cool and you plan to fish around your car for your favorite CD or your cell phone.

Fit: N/A
The fit of these belts depends on your application. If you have the benefit of a roll cage then installation is easy. If you do not have a cage, then you have to mount reinforced brackets somewhere and use snap in belts, not the wrap around ones shown above. If you use bolt in or snap in belts, make sure all your hardware is grade 8 and robust enough to withstand the tremendous pressure an accident puts on a belt. Click here for wrap in installation tips.

Finish: 7
The finish is above par for anything you would even think about seeing in a race car. The obvious safety issues are addressed and beyond that all cosmetic aspects. No frayed ends, or partial sewn seams anywhere. If you do find any thing wrong with the belts, contact the vendor who sold them to you. The only area that could use work is the adjuster hardware.  They could use a smoother finish or at the least powder coated.  Due to FIA rules, the belts fall under much scrutiny. So accept nothing less than perfect, when it comes to safety devices.

Performance: 9
Once adjusted you are not going anywhere. The belts are relentless in their job of keeping you in the seat. Keep that in mind or you might find yourself reaching in vain across the car for whatever item you just realized you needed.  The lap belts are a little hard to adjust is the only area I see for improvement.

Note: I will publish any issues as they arise.
