Well this is the official write up of how to make your own adapter using Radio Shack parts to get up to 4 RCA Preouts (Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, and Rear Right) from a factory deck. These instructions are intended for an SC811 deck, although it should work for other factory decks that came in 850's as well.
Tools and Parts Needed:
Soder gun and soder (although I did not use it), simple wire for connecting
RCA connectors, Multimeter (If you want to verify which pin does what for
yourself), RCA female ends from a Radio Shack, and a 6-pin DIN connector.
Step 1 - Prep work (Only neccessary if you want to verify what pin does what)
First thing I did was test to see what connector did what with a multi-meter. If you want to verify what each pin does for yourself (incase you have a different deck or something) First connect the ground to somewhere (I used the cigarette lighter, because I could wedge it in there and I didn't have to hold it) and then find the 12V pin (I think we set the multimeter to the 2V AC setting) and then fade the music to a corner and then put the positive connector from the Multimeter in each hole and watch for a slight voltage variation that changes with the music, and that is the hole for that specific corner. There is only one ground hole and nothing will show up on the multimeter when testing for it.
Here is a shot of the back of the deck for those who may not have seen it already. The DIN I am talking about is on the bottom right (And yes that is Volvospeed on the computer, and yes that product placement was intentional)
Here is a picture with labels for what I found each connector to be.
Next was to head on over to the local radio shack and pick up some parts. I got an 8pin DIN that I later modified to the 6pin config that was required. (BTW: for the RCA connections I just used some 15AWG wire that I had laying around. Although in hind-sight it would have been alot easier to use a much thinner wire)
Next I started to connect the 15AWG wires to the din (I just pushed them on and clamped the wires in place.) I also reallized that I suck at sodering. This is the early stages of assembly.
