V2 Weapon R Filter

For all of you who have been asking about the Weapon R V2 filter here it is. It is an open element filter so there are a few things you need to consider. Moisture and heat being the two biggest.

Tools Needed:
Dremel, 1/4 inch drill bit and drill, Torx screwdriver set, One zip tie

Start removing the top of the factory airbox by undoing the latches that fasten it down. Once this done, remove the mass air flow sensor from the top of the box by unscrewing the two torx that hold it in place. Next, remove both filter and the top of the air box from the car and place them to the side. Once this has been done slip the filter over the intake and push it flush with the mass air flow sensor and tighten the pipe clamp on the filter to secure it.

At this point, I disconnected the cable to the sensor and rerouted under the intake and then reconnected it to keep any slack out. To the left of the battery you can see where I removed the last section of the piping that provided outside air. You can do this by lifting it up and out of its seats and carefully pulling it back past the radiator.

Here is where you should be now. The filter is in place and you are now ready to make a minor modification to the last section of the fresh air piping.

Above you can see where I notched the the piping to allow more air flow. This was done with a dremel tool with it off. It can be done with it on but it is more difficult. The last step it to drill a small hole in the bottom half of the air box which you left and secure the filter with a zip tie. The hole the torx went through works perfectly.

Next comes the heat shield..........
