No Power To Aftermarket Head Unit After Theft

My aftermarket head unit was stolen out of my car a few months ago. It was fully working, no problems. It appears the person just pulled the old stereo out and left all of the wires in the car. I disconnect everything and hooked it up to my new head unit's wiring harness and now I have absolutely no power. I tested the new unit by putting the wires on the positive and negative on the battery and it powered on immediately. Does anyone have any suggestion on how I should troubleshoot this?I don't have a multi-meter right now but I have a feeling I should buy one.

Please let me know where to start. Thanks!

Usaspec Install Issues

Hello Forum,

I've run across an issue while attempting to hook up the Sc-815 in my 850 to my just purchased USASPEC adapter.

I have hooked up the adapter, but I'm afraid I spliced the wrong wires behind the stereo, I used the wire numbering on the large connector (there are little numbers near the socket) and I spliced the red and yellow to the red and yellow number one and two wires. Now, my HU won't clear with the code and I can't get the iPod to play through the adapter.

I am sure that some people have this in their car, and anyone who would be willing to take a picture to show me exactly which two wires to splice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not very confident in my electrical ability when working on cars, so I would prefer not to screw up again.

My car is a 1997 850 T-5, if that makes any difference.

Thank yo very much in advance!

2000 S80 Speakers Into 98 S70 ?

I have a 98 S70 T5M and I want to get some better sound. I dont want to spend any money and I already have a full set of s80 speakers. they came from a 2000 S80 T6 w/navi. the speakers look far better quality as they dont have that crappy paper cone. just wanted to see if anybody has done it and how hard they are to retrofit. thanks

i would imagine that the s60/v70 speakers from those years would be also the same

S70 Fiberglass Sub Enclosure Build

Hey guys, I used to read up a lot over on DIYmobileaudio.com and have now decided to give my shot at fiberglassing an enclosure in the side of my trunk panel. I have limited fiberglass experience besides using it to fix my 960 lip.

Bear with me because I have been just taking the occasional iphone picture

Here's the amp that I have, I got it for $100 a few years ago from Lucas!
Memphis 16-PR1.500 (16pr1500) Power Reference PR Series Class D

and the subwoofer I'm using that I picked up for $40 from a friend
MB Quart RSH 254 Component Car Subwoofers at Onlinecarstereo.com

And here are a few pictures that I have taken so far. I masked the panel with some masking tape and then some pieces of tin foil. Then laid down 2 layers of cloth, followed by a layer of mat, then followed by some strands of rope to add rigidity and then another layer of cloth.

and then one test fitted back into the side panel

Did some more work today/tonight only to run into an issue of not having hot glue to position the ring and legs to hold it in place so that will have to wait until tomorrow.

But here we go with a few more!

Trimmed and then test fitted

Made a little jig to draw circles.

cut the first hole! and it fits!

Cut out the second ring to recess it a bit for a cleaner look.

glued and clamped

and a guesstimate mockup of how I want it to sit...

Got some more work done, and now its back to the computer while waiting for the resin to dry!

Borrowed a hot glue gun from my moms work since I couldn't find mine and got to work, mounted up the support legs

then mounted the ring I made

anddd a test fit

I used some tape to mock the shape of the cloth and then had to trim some of the fiberglass so it would clear the trunk arm thing.

then I grabbed a t-shirt I had kicking around (I work for NOS Energy drink so even though it was a brand new shirt, it was free and I can always get another! haha)

Wrapped, I was able to use the sleeve hole to go where the sub was which helped when trying to stretch the shirt back and forth to get it taught.

Glued down the shirt starting in one section and worked my way around the outside in increments of about 3-5 inches until I had it tight all around as seen above.

Layed down the resin and let it soak into the shirt and thats where I'm at now!

Thanks for looking! Hopefully it will dry by later tonight and I can add a layer of cloth on top!
-John
I think the stock setup sounds good. Im thinking about adding a sub and amp later and maybe some different speakers.

Visteon Vnmc-1000

Anyone ever heard of or worked with one of these?
http://www.riverparkinc.com/techpdf/VNMC1000%20PID.pdf
I have read that this is the stock head unit from the newer *fancy* Lincoln LS --- not sure exactly what year though...

I bought one from a pawn shop in town, guy tested it with a car battery in the shop, showed me it was working... thing was fine.

Brought it home, wanted to tinker a bit with to see how the interface worked more etc... so I hooked it up to a 12v powersupply (one of those ac -> dc adapters)

I soon realized that wasn't going to work since the psu I was using was only 3amps :/ The buttons backlighting "flickered" on a couple times but I wasn't getting anywhere... I ended up just plugging it in to the car... Long story short I found out that the main plug/harnes for it was "hot glued" together...

I bought a new one through this guy in Michigan who is apparently re-branding the vnmc-1000 ... http://www.insonos.com/

Hooked the new one up last night... doesn't do a thing- tested the 12 volts all the way through the power plug/harness that goes directly into the unit... it was good- fuses all good even the one on the unit. Giving 12 volts to the 12+ and ignition lines... and a solid ground to the ground line...

It does nothing... doesn't even light up the buttons on the face.

I assume these units have some sort of internal power supply/adapter/inverter/flux capacitor - is it likely that could be replaced? Maybe an internal fuse?
Any suggestions would be appreciated... just worried I've waisted upwards of 300 on this thing...

Does look bad-ass , 5.1 surround, gps, the whole 9 yards really... i figured for 250 i couldn't go wrong

Best Way To Connect A Zune To An Sc-816?

I've got both an 815 and an 816 lying around, though I've only tried the 816 since the code was written on it. It works with the amp and CD changer, but when I transferred my generic Cassette adapter from the 811 to it, it barely worked. The sound was distant and weak, whereas in the 811 it works perfectly (maybe not the absolute best quality, but it works).

I've heard of a kit that lets you connect the zune directly to the HU without using an FM modulator, or the cassette, but I can't find it anywhere...are there any other options?
