ABM's cutoff as you may already know is: __/ __/
And I've wanted to modify it since I bought them to get something like this: ___ ___

Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics...

Start by removing the lens:

Pop the plastic cover face off:

Remove the projector:

The thing to blame for the cutoff:

And it's out:

Say 'hello' to my lil' friend:

New cutoff...Booyakasha!

Put everything back together...

It was fun 'getting to know' it, but it was time-consuming.

I was just taking pics for the fun of it, wasn't thinking of making a thread at the time. All I did was cut out a piece of foil tape and tape the one side.

Interesting mod. Just wondering if this was solely to satisfy your craving for the headlamps to have __ __ output, or is there any actual benefit to this? tongue.gif

I mean, technically speaking...there could be a benefit; you're 'legal' to drive in both LHD and RHD markets now without having to use tape to mask your headlamp lenses, but your headlamps won't illuminate road signs along the side of the road on either market because of how you changed the light pattern cutoff...

The original cutoff throws a crap-load of light to the right side. I'm talking about illuminating the whole forest when driving on the highway LOL. Also, when you pass people you blind the living daylights out of them, and it's even worse when you run 55W HID's as I do. People who have these projectors KNOW what I'm talking about.

I know the road signs are going to be less illuminated but I have a back-up for that when needed. Either by high-beamin' or having my HID fogs on -- these things illuminate all of the surroundings LOL -- terrible glare coming from these.

So most importantly, I don't want to blind people and I don't want the cutoff to look retarded as it did before.

I have 55w as well. It's ridiculous. A lot of people think my headlights are broken.

where does the reflector/projector holder mount to the housing? i can only see two points at the top, but i'd assume it needs 3 mounting points...

There are 3 mounting points. If you look at pic #3, you'll see the two mounting points diagonally. The third point is on the bottom right hand side.

Never mind Rye...I was talking about the projector itself and you meant the whole thing. Yeah 2 on top but can't recall if there were any points on the bottom. Justin (lil bo peep) might know.

What? What are you trying to get at? I put the tape on the metal piece which creates the cutoff.

will they fit in place of the halogen projector? that was my idea

and if you do happen to take them apart can you look and see where the 3rd mounting point for the adjustible reflector piece (is there a name for this thing) is?
