I met a buddy from work on the freeway and we pulled from 70 to about 125 dead even the whole time. I'm not sure who was more surprised. I also went the rounds with another coworkers 350Z trac spec model. I moved out a little from 70ish but he was coming back by 110 or so. Where is Eastern Aerospace when you need another 40 hp?

Ported exhaust manifold, Ported and gasket matched exhaust ports,
19T, Blue Injectors, Custom home built 3" SS DP, EST exhaust"

All that just to keep up with a 350Z?? laugh.gif laugh.gif

While that may be true, I think in general a tuned X70/850 with moderate supporting mods keep up with them pretty well. I would quite honestly expect a good 19T setup to put some serious ground on one. Nonetheless, nice runs tup.gif

Maybe it's just the cars around here, but I've had no problems from a roll taking most stock 350s/G35s...
I left.

Then I sold my car. Then I got a new car, because S80s are cool. Right?
Then I came back.

... Circle of life, or whatever.

Well. It's fairly easy to tell at this stage of the game. It's really not that hard...

Last I checked, all 350Z models come with the same engine, but it's been a while so not sure about today. The only difference in models, performance wise, is weight due to options, so the lightest and fastest are the base models, although in the first years the base models did not have the rear LSD, so they couldn't take off as good, not sure about the new ones.

350Z is not a slow car. The new ones with the new VQ engines are mid to high 13s in the 1/4. Weight is around 3200-3300lbs, and they have short gearing. Also, if Laird's car is an auto and his friend's Z is a manual, it will help the Z.

Me too but if my car got results like this from Car and Driver, I'd be Ok with it.
C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 5.2 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 12.6 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 23.5 sec
Street start, 5-60 mph: 5.6 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 13.7 sec @ 104 mph

i guess some people's opinions on how a car should perform very greatly.

You have a hell of good running car I'd say. Some folks idea of spelling varies greatly too. wink.gif
I am always looking for more get up and go. If however, I use Motor Trend as a guide, I am doing just fine.
This is from Motor Trend for a 97 850R.
Acceleration, 0-60 mph, sec 6.9
Standing quarter mile, sec/mph 15.3/90.9

I had no problem pulling on a 350z trac spec from 40-135 on the highway...and I'm MAYBE holding 10psi on the 15g, stock exhaust, stock motor with 187k on it. I think your car might be broken.

Compared to what?

Pretty much any family-sedan with an optional V6 will give a car like a 350Z a run for its money. Camry, Accord, CTS, C-Class...name it. Everything has ~270+ HP nowadays. Are those fast cars? Not by any stretch of the imagination. Unfortunately, people's standards of what "fast" is have not changed since the era when a "sports-car" trapped 100 MPH, while your standard run-of-the-mill cars are getting more and more efficient. Get with it.

I guess in a couple years, everything is going to "fast." rolleyes.gif
