My old '94 wagon was an 850 GLT Turbo. That was the nomenclature on the back hatch....nowhere on it did it say T5.

definitely not a turbo.

If it was definitely not a turbo, why did it say turbo on the back of the car? Why did it say turbo on the intake where the air filter is? Why did it have a boost gauge on the dash? And why did it have a turbo on the back of the engine?????

And lastly....why did it run like a scalded dog?

As previously stated by Justin, GLT in the older cars (pre 97) denoted a trim level. SOOOOO.... you CAN have a 94 GLT with HPT... cuz I do.

Does your '94 have a T5 badge on it? I don't think they did in '94.

it wouldn't say t5. it would say turbo. but your reasoning seems, well off. if you had a turbo car it wouldn't be badged glt. unless you were '97 and up.

No... the 94 says (correction: said) 850turbo on the right side of the trunk lid.

again, glt before 97 didn't have anything to do with engines. It was a trim level.

Nope, it was pretty clear, it said GLT. So, it seems as though this fella is a little confused, or maybe someone snuck the GLT badge on the thing.

Anyhow, looks pretty clean, leather interior, Eurorails, has 191k miles on it, and the guy is asking $4500.

Anyone think that is a bad deal? I checked the NADA value, and the retail is $5200 (This guy is an dealer, but just a local used car dealer, and not a dealership)

Appreciate any tips. Would like to get this, and give my N/A to the wife. smile.gif

Tell him you were looking for a turbo and IF he makes the price right, you'll just add a turbo to his. Then drive off with your "modded" NA laugh.gif

I did an DMV check on the vehicle, and it was in an accident last December, not to mention Edmunds and KBB both peg the value at about $3300. Given that the guy has NO idea of the history, and obviously does not know Volvos, I guess he honestly thinks that $4500 is the right price. He said, "this care is above average". Yeah, above average mileage for the year, and price... cool.gif

Put something on your calendar in a month to call him. If he hasn't sold the car, which is highly likely, start cutting offers then.
