dunno how much weight you can drop (some people on here know exactly) but if you wanna know approx how much of a difference it will make, then get that much weight worth of people, get them to sit in your car, drive the stuff outta it, then kick em out and drive some more, compare

motorized seats suck, I want a manual one.
the rear seats (at least the bottom portion in sedans) is surprisingly light. not even worth taking out IMO unless the seat backs happen to be really heavy.

Weight reduction is beneficial in all aspects. Acceleration, top speed, braking, cornering, etc. I have built many track cars and you can usually shed 300-500 lb(depending on car) by deleting heating and a/c, all interior including carpet, headliner, door panels, seats, seatbelts, etc. After you take out the interior, take out all the sound deadening tar, all interior lights and wires, radio, speakers and assoc wires. So much more to list but you get the drift. Put in 1 or 2 racing seats with harnesses and you'll be all set. It will not really be a practical dd anymore but it will be considerably faster, louder and hotter. I would love to build a wagon with a cage and all. I might eventually do that to mine. I believe there was someone in the forum building one. I think he was in NJ somewhere. I think I saw it in the projects page but all of a sudden it disappeared. Did that ever get built? I'm curious to find out what happened to that car.
Cheers,
Ricky

when you finally reinstalled your interior did you remember to tighten the nut behind the steering wheel
edit: ^ i knew someone would come along and spill all details; not just top speed

Actually, weight has absolutely nada to do with your top speed. Throw some fat chicks in your car and you will reach the exact same top speed it will just take you a tad longer to get there. Otherwise trains would never reach more than 2mph.
The seat backs are fairly heavy. Not front seat heavy, but quite heavy compared to the nearly weightless base.
Florian's 855R is at exactly 1300 kg's with a cage. But it is VERY stripped. Lots of wiring gone, carbon dash, sunroof closed with carbon, the doors are completely gutted as well and closed with CF. So at least the 855's aren't easy to get very light. Sedans are quite a bit less.

if so, strip the entire car. down to metal.
instead of thinking what you can take out, think about only what you need to put back in.
