So i going to get my waterpump,TB,Tensioner and pulleys done but i want to order them off of fcp because its cheaper then the dealership but i am worried about something breaking i don't no when the last time the pump pulleys or tensioner was done i no the tb was done at 114000KM in 03 and the car now has 250000KM in bay 13 it says change the TB every 70000miles or 5years is there any signs or symptoms i can look for on the belt and or any of the other parts i don't hear anything that sounds like a bad pulley only for a little whine that im pretty sure is the power steering pump so what do you guys think?

I would go with all OEM parts for a critical service like this one. order from Darrell Waltrip Volvo they give us a nice discount.

also, unless you can pinpoint where the noise is coming from none of us will be able to tell you for sure it's not something with the timing belt. however, the whining is probably from something else like the serp belt a/c bearings power steering pump or something

Change the belt, there not like the old red blocks that had non-interfering motors. If it breaks, it's way more costly to rebuild the engine than to change the belt.

But yes, look for shiney surface wear it rides on the pulley and look for dry root cracks, that's about it, but if you see those things i'd replace it ASAP.

Just keep an eye on the tb. If it looks like shat, change it. If you change it, change everything else down there. Tb is a bizsnatch to get off the crank and back on, and the tensioner pully is a kunt to get off due to t-45 and little space. I just did mine and the last time it was done on this particular car was in 02 at 144,xxxkms. Changed it at 330,xxx kms couple weeks ago. Just be smart about it and you will be fine. The noise most likley is the power steering pump pully. How's the serp belt?

There's huge thread that's fairly recent all about this. Take the time to read up on it, then find some others and read them.

Tensioner bolt can be a pain. Be prepared for it and it's not so hard.

The timing belt is a pain to get off, but goes on fairly easy. That's why you cut it off. You aren't reusing it.

The water pump is all by feel. I didn't have any problems, just be sure not to screw up the gasket. Don't reuse the bolts.

If it's time, then change it. Don't look for signs that it might fail.

Do it right. No second chances with it.

You already know that it needs to be replaced. Put your hand in your pants, find your nuts, then replace it. It's not that hard. I've changed worst and pulled through.

Your components have rust on them. How much salt do they dump on the roads up there? I thought Michigan was bad.

FYI punctuation and grammar help people understand you better and you'll probably get more responses from the more experienced people around here if you sound more educated and like an adult, not a 16 year old. Just my $0.02. Not sayin' anything just a suggestion.

Oh and I wouldn't buy from FCP, they sell aftermarket parts in their kit. If you do buy it from them I would call them directly and place your order. Also my dealer in NC is cheaper than FCP on most of their Volvo branded stuff.
