I have been doing a lot of research about the front big brake kit calipers that will fit the 850/x70s, and since there is a lot of misinformation out there I thought a thread with solid answers and part numbers would be helpful. There is some stuff I am unsure about so if anyone has info please post it. Also, if you know of any other calipers that will work please post that as well.

Porsche 993TT calipers (also known as "big reds")
The part numbers for the front calipers are:
993-351-425-10 (left side)
993-351-426-10 (right side)
36mm/44mm piston sizes

Note: The 993N/A calipers WILL NOT WORK. They will not accept the larger sized brake rotor.

Porsche 928GTS calipers (also known as "big blacks")
The part numbers for the front calipers are:
928-351-423-03 (left side)
928-351-424-03 (right side)
36mm/44mm piston sizes

(if you want to use these you will need to swap the bleeder screws & cross-over tubes - very simple)

The 928 non-GTS calipers below WILL NOT FIT!! (Thanks Gary)
M030 calipers (928 S4 calipers) (also used on 944 S2 M030, 944 Turbo S)
928-351-421-03
928-351-422-03
36mm/44mm piston sizes

The 993TT and 928GTS calipers will mount with IPD brackets, and will work with S60R rotors as well. The two calipers look very similar to each other. Depending on what wheel you are running, they might require spacers.

Porsche 996TT calipers
The part numbers for the front calipers are:
996-351-429-10 (left side)
996-351-430-10 (right side)

These calipers are significantly thicker than the 993TT and 928GTS calipers, so you will have to use a larger spacer to run them.
I am unsure if the IPD brackets will work with these, and I am unsure about the rotor size.

I'm not sure about 996 non-TT calipers.

I know Brembo f-40 and f-50 calipers will fit. There are a few members running those. I don't know any specific info about them though.

Because they are identical calipers with only crossover tube and bleeder placement being reversed.

Only issue I can ever see of a caliper not working , is if it wont fit over the rotor / width .

Other then that brakets can be made for any caliper out there.

I am looking to use Porsche Chanyne 6pots on the XC lol

But I will need a 350mm rotor

Not feasible with the amount of spacer needed. With the 993TT calipers I have 7mm betwen them and the spokes. I would need an additional 5mm to clear 996TT calipers.

The brembo F50 calipers that are part of the GT kits are wider than the 993 TT calipers, oem pegs will not clear them, you will need at least a 3mm spacer to clear. Also, the pistons are larger, the two smaller ones are 40mm and the two bigger ones are 44, the 993 TT calipers are 36mm and 40mm IIRC

They do however work with the IPD brackets and s60 R rotors

1st, sign in, 2nd, they should work, essentially the same as 993 calipers just with a more square profile so you may need to run a set of spacers up front. They are from a Porsche 996 (hence 996 in the p/n) which is a 1999-2005/2006 911 to most people depending on the body style C2, C4, C4S, Targa, Turbo, GT2 or GT3

996 front calipers also fit S60R rotors

I used them on the back of my AWD - rotor is the same OD as the front

admittedly they are smaller than the 993TT/928 calipers I have up front, but should work on the fronts - bolt spacing 130mm - never bothered to check if that's the same as my Front BBK spacing..

Is there any 2000+ domestic trucks/suvs (yukon, denali, durango's..ect) that are 2 piston calipers, that mount in a similar fashion, are not to wide and will accept a caliper with a similar width?

AFAIK all non-"S" models have the black calipers, Red's come on "S" models and Turbo's as well as GT2/GT3's without the PCCB package.

If you aren't familiar with Porsche parts etc... I would suggest taking the easy way out and going with IPD's BBK, it will save you the hassle of collecting and dealing with used parts, defunct sellers etc...

Just finished installing the 993's up front with S60R 330MM rotors on my T5R.......used 15MM spacers with Titans and ended up buying 20MM spacers because of closeness between Caliper and 17" Titan rim. Noticed vibration when coming to a stop after install and it was suggested to Torque lug nuts down to 85-90 lbs. Also installed S60 "R" calipers with 330MM rotors on rear using CJ's brackets (for both front and rear) but Titans would not clear rear calipers. When installing rear R calipers for the 850's, you also need to cut brake dust plates to be able to fit brackets/calipers correctly. It was easier for me to remove the dust plate from the vehicle to make the cut. You will need to remove hub, hand brake shoe pads in order to remove dust plate, Hub requires a 36MM socket to remove.
