So today I picked up my car from a volvo shop. they replaced the engine and the clutch which were pretty messed up. drove it from LA to Orange County, felt okay. then tonight i noticed a check engine light come on. The engine felt okay and was idling perfectly, so i decided to do some "investigation". at WOT, i noticed that my turbo no longer sounds like the "psssssst" sound it used to be. It is now more of a "woooooshh" sound. i feel like the car is not pulling as hard. Is this a possible leak in the vacuum line? would it throw a CEL? and if so, is it okay to drive it around until I fix it?

instead of investigating by flooring it, pull the code to see what's wrong. depending on what the code is, it might be okay or it might be damaging to drive around with.

hence my use of quotation marks around "investigating". i have no clue how to pull a code, don't i need an obdII reader? where can i get one quickly?

alright, thanks! guess i know where i'm going tomorrow lol
it could be as simple as a gas cap not tightened enough. also, you should check out all the vac lines to your turbo if you suspect a leak and check for cracks in the intercooler hoses as well.

+1 and... If you just got a new engine you probably don't want to floor it just yet. Let it break in
