Hi everyone, Im having a big problem right now with my 06 s60r. I just got the car 2 weeks ago, and just installed my pioneer avic z1 with my ipod, xm unit, and bluetooth... So I bought the scosche radio kit, wire harness, antenna adapter.. and Volvo Stereo Radio-Aftermarket HU to Factory Amp Cable. I also wanted to connect two subwoofers too. ( All coming off my old car)
http://cgi.ebay.com/...RTQ:MOTORS:1123
Now I have a problem with a whining/static noise coming from the speakers.. Not to mention my battery/alternator isn't charging properly... The guy in the shop was saying I need to get a 4 channel amp for the component speakers because the factory amp is giving feedback(static) and wont work. He was also saying I might need a new battery and alternator. The car has 26000 miles on it, and everything worked fine before with the HU-850. I dont think he knew what he was talking about.. It clearly sounds like a wiring problem something shorted out or something.. He said the Factory amp adapter was properly grounded, and the voltage isnt the same or something..
I need help from someone on the forum or someone who I can be refered to, who can help me. I'll pay someone who can help.. Im not cheap I just want my system to sound right... Im in the NYC area, and if anyone can help who knows about volvo systems.. I'd really appreciate that.. Im willing to travel to NJ or CT..
I did some searching on the forum, and read about grounding and rca near power cable... But the power cable is in the trunk with the subs, and the installer said the cables behind the headunit are grounded properly.. He was like the plug I brought (fact amp adapter wont work)
Please I need some help with this problem.. I need to find someone who knows what they're doing.. specifically volvo..

First of all sounds like you have two issues here.
1. whining/static noise
2. battery/alternator
I'm not sure why you are having the whining/static noise but I assume it is a crappy ground. I installed an USA-Spec ipod adapter and am suffering from whining/static as well how ever I believe it can be fixed with a line filter, I've just been to lazy to figure it out.
The battery/alternator problem I would consider to be much worse. Can you elaborate on this? If your alternator isn't working then the car won't run for very long and it only has 26k? Isn't it still under warranty?
Also if you got all of this installed professionally aren't they responsible for all this crap in the first place?
English please? You shouldn't hear whining/static through the subs anyway since they won't be able to hit frequency that high.

lets nip this in the butt before we e-disagnose this car all wrong.
your z1 is messed up. the SMD fuses on the board of your avic is blown. this causes your rca's not to be grounded. pioneer will charge you $200 to fix it.
you can try and run a wire from the rca ground to the case of the radio.
i would suspect that the subwoofer output will not be working also.
simple fix.
now with your battery issue. he may have left the key on while working on the car and drained the battery. now the battery is beat to death, and will not hold a charge anymore.
any shop that has installed alot of these avic z series unit knows this problem. i have personally seen at least 6 of these, units do this...lets not get into the n series avics!

Hey well update, this morning I put a 20 min charge on my battery, just to help it out. and when I checked the alternator output it was reading 13.9-14.0 which is a major good sign LOL.. (thank god) Im still gonna put a 2 amp charge on the battery for a couple of hours just to be on the safe side.
Now as for the headunit, it was working fine in my old car..
Also I notice the whining/static noise changes as Im driving diff RPM's so I'm thinking its a wiring ground issue.
Im not going back to that shop, they dont seem to know anything..
Can anyone on here help me, or refer me to someone around my area in NYC or in the tri state area..
I tried to email the ebay seller of the plug but he's on vacation (wish I was too lol)
It's getting sound which is a good thing, the navigation seemed to be bypassed (parking brake grounded) I believe it has something to do with the factory amp adapter.. or the ipod adapter as have been mentioned...
At least I know I can drive the car around now without having to worry about the alt discharging and leaving me dead in the water..

Okay, who is steve? lol Whats his SN so I can message him.. I went again to 3 other shops all of them say thats the factory amp making that noise and they are not compatible with aftermarket headunit like the pioneer z1.. I guess they never hooked up a adapter like the one I have..or dontknow how to.
