I have an '83 Volvo wagon thats killing batteries. Signs are pointing to the alternator but the problem seems to be intermittent. Ive checked for grounding issues in the electrical system but everything looks normal. Anybody have any advice?

Most likely the alternator, I would try another voltage regulator, on your model alternator, this can be replaced separately, about 25$ +shipping for a new one online.
