I see that we are both heaving fun. :D .
Easiest way to see if you turbo gives away is.
Check the bottom side of the flange on turbine side, right where downpipe connects to turbine housing, If you will see little black spot with nice crunchy oil. That is the sign that seal on turbocharger is begging to go.
I have seen oil on my oil cap area too sometimes. Somebody double gasket cap and it stopped leaking I didn't try that yet but it may actually works.
I was think about installing crankcase gauge to see how much pressure we getting down there.
My engine has 16k on it and I drove it on reg oil for first 3k to let rings seat correctly.
BTW go install Turbo tuner if you have it all ready .
Check jcviggen car with 25 psi , 440 whp , f..... ridiculous.

Hi Maciek!

My DP seal is too good - no oil's gonna leak there. There appears to be oil accumulating (black spot) on the bottom of the band clamp, though.

Just waiting for TT ECU to come back from England. Running the revised Woth 517cc tune right now - it's very nice up to 23psi, after that, too lean.

I'm using Mahle inserts - don't know the PN - I don't pay for oil or filters

So the tune is working pretty well now? 23 PSI must be awesome! How much boost are you looking to top out at?
B Mac: "Guess what? Remember my new heater core?"
Me: "Yea."
B Mac: "It smells like dead rat again."

The tune is working quite well :D - if it wasn't blowing massive clouds of oil smoke, I would be pushing it to see how far I can go. I did try 1.65 bar, but it was definitely too lean @ 3bar base fuel pressure to support that. J said I should try raising base pressure a little, as long as idle/cruise AFR's stay @ lamdba 1

I have the data logging set up for the most part, so hopefully I can document the actual conditions & see what my AFR's are like across the board.

Hahn Racecraft is dicking me around on a warranty CHRA/compressor wheel. They keep saying it's all because of my drain tube. If that were true (much as I wish it were, it would have been an easy fix compared swapping out the turbo) I would have been blowing constant oil smoke since I originally installed it. I redid the drain tube twice, and it made no difference.

sample from a data log wound it up to just over 7K before shift...

time - RPM - AFR (v) - Timing - TPS

Hit "printscreen" then open MS Paint and start a new doc. "control + V" or "paste" and then just save as a .jpeg.

Hi

I got the copy & paste part, but somehow when I saved it, it didn't save the image - when I opened it on my Mac, the file was blank

BTW - what do you do for crank breathing on your setup -you're running high boost levels, aren't you?

Is it still this attached to the stock box?

Try saving as a gif or bitmap? not too sure there..

I was running an open catch can, but recently re-plumbed it cause it smelled like shit. Now my setup is basically the same as yours. I need to get a level indicator or a clear can cause I can't tell when mine gets full. (home made aluminum one) I think it needs emptying though cause its starting to smell a bit... or perhaps a line has come off.

running 20-21psi right now

Thanks. Mine is fine below 23psi - that seems to be the tipping point - I'm running 1.55bar (22.3psi) with no problems at that level.

Of course, my turbo is puking clouds of smoke into traffic behind me, but that's another story..

The stock setup is all new (10K ago), it's not that it's not working, it just doesn't vent enough for the output of the 20g over 23psi. I doubt it's a vacuum issue. Russ (with the 500hp850) ditched the stock setup & ran AN lines into a custom can due to crankcase overpressure issues.

Did you get the crank vents cut into the block during your build?

Ok so you have high crank case pressure and billowing smoke clouds. Any chance they are related? I bet they are. High crankcase pressure will make oil back up in the drain line.

You need to do another leakdown test. Personally I would be taking it easy on the car until I had these issues sorted out.

The oil smoke is there on decel, even at low(er) boost, not under accel/boost. I backed the boost pressure off to 1.55bar & no oil pushes past the cap. I've been driving it sedately, as I don't want to kill it, of course.

I'll do another leakdown & see what I find.

Hahn even suggested an oil restrictor, which doesn't make sense to me, since the oil feed is the same as TD04HL (7mm ID feed, 5mm ports in banjo bolt, 7mm ID), it's not like I'm using generic lines.
