I second that. Lucky @ Ipd is Da Man

I have the Stage 2 Ipd Euro Manual map.17 psi.It rocks. R mani,16t,Hd cbv,3in DP, 2.5 catback
Volvo> Bmw 135I ,wrx sti,350z, (Closed courses, 30-100 and 50-120)

And yeah you should be able to use the stage 2 map with an 18t, It will be slightly less aggressive than a stage 3 but fuel/air is ok and it will be a bit safer. I recommend a Greddy Profec 2 Ebc. It will optimize your boost delivery and has several useful functions. Hi lowboost setting, gain,Highest boost level, And overboost protection.

That's VERY close to the set up I had on Darth before the crash, (Minus the R-mani it was identical). I'll be using an MBC for now as that's what I have and it worked fine.
Thanks for the info, I'll probably get a retune at somepoint down the road given that it will be an auto tune on a manual...but for now, I'm very excited to see how the 18T conversion performs.

One well known tuner recommended that the ECU be upgraded (from stock) if running an 18T/19T at or above 16psi. That leads me to believe that as long as you aren't trying for astronomical boost levels, the stock injection should be able to compensate for the added airflow. Stock boost on T5's was ~9.6psi and 10.4 or so on the Arrrrrrr's. I'd think that ~15psi on the larger turbine would be pretty safe with a Stage 1 tune. Worst case scenario, I'd compensate with an adjustable or RR FPR. Much cheaper than a custom tune, and would probably do just as well.

IIRC, '98-'99 R's used the 18T and '00 R's used the 19T.

I don't plan on doing it again. If you want to get 5-6 people together for a group buy and have everyone send me their compressor housings, then I would do it.

Not sure if you mentioned it, but when you order the bearing/seal kit, you need to make sure you order the "superback" variety.

If you are upgrading from any 'g' suffix turbo, they are normally "flatback", and the thrust washer/slinger setup is different....

Ya I am not sure if I did in this post or not, thanks Hussein. If you have a 13g or 15g you will need a different flinger and insert. You don't have to by a complete kit though, I do have these individual parts in stock. If you do buy a rebuild kit you would want a superback major kit. Thrust bearings are the same ;)

Just let me know if you need one Joe ;).

They are not MIT wheels. All my turbo wheels, parts and rebuild kits are from a high quality turbo aftermarket supplier.

There is actually a few ways to balance the CHRA/Turbo. Some of the newer technology is that much more precise then some of the older machines.
30k+ and 40k+ for two local people who wanted to just throw a bigger wheel on a few years ago.. and still going. How hard you push the turbo has a lot to do with it.

My 2 pennies
Perspective is everything!! For those who baby every inch of their car, and this is there only car, or DD>>> get it balanced. For people who this is going on a project car, who have 2-3 spare turbos at home, who don't mind taking these apart...do whatever you want :P

TY, and NO I am not making a ton of money by doing this (helps me buy a few parts myself :P ). I figured it would help out the guys who have 1-3 low mileage 13g/t's laying around, or for people like Hussein who enjoy doing things like this. It also should be good for the guys who want to upgrade but don't want to have a long downtime.

ORLY??? I never really thought about that....

I prefer OG over OP

Taking a turbo apart is not to hard at all if you take your time and have a few select tools. I am more than willing to answer any question you might have when the time comes. I will work on a write up for changing the compressor wheel and a complete rebuild.

Your not going over 16psi on a 18psi tune....The first thing that comes mind is CBV, actuator or boost leak. I am sure it could be anything from difference between turbo/manifold pressure, intercooling, all the way to something with the BCS/tune.

Personally I would ask some of the other members (Lucky, EricF, Johann or even Chuck)who know more about tuning and the whole system in general.

If you need someone to balance your CHRA shoot me a PM

The 15G has a bigger turbine wheel than the T versions? Wouldn't this make all kinds of trouble for people swapping hot side housings on to a 15G?

That makes more sense. I was REALLY confused by those #s. Do you think that is a TD05 16G #?

Nope!! I figured it was either Chuck drinking and messing with me, or just a noob putting in his wooden nickel.

Either way, its wrong
