wasn't he using a shelf tune for a 15g?

yeah he said it ran "perfect"....

IMO a 19T on an auto is very dangerous but a 19T on a manual is more manageable because you can choose the appropriate gear for the amount of load and boost.

I agree with that, fully

Yes. But see, I am as well. Off the shelf, BSR tune, for an auto 15G car. I have the 5spd, and 19T, and the only thing I've seen is that, luckily, it runs rich. Inmotion makes cheap tunes, it's their slogan for god sakes.

hmmm, I'm going to get a lot of -1 for this, but I don't think is bent rods. What exactly were you doing before this happened? Were you over revving your engine?

No not at all, Ive heard bent rods before and it sounded a lot more violent than this...

I wasnt really doing anything, just noticed the ticking was getting worse

Think it was more the user and not the tuner, he prob. had the WG tweaked and it was coming on to strong to soon or was running a MBC.

You swear like im stupid, I had boost onset coming on slow, not till after 3k and it was only 16-18psi

Wastegate was all the way loose

Im not stupid

Thanks for -1 as well, always shows the lack of undying support here on VS

PS

I just went outside, Im pretty sure its a lifter...

Car runs fine, ticking goes away under acceleration

No oil light, car still boosts fine

Look how biased you all were just because I had a 19t hahaha

Im guessing its time for an oil change

Could have just done that before posting. I'd go full synthetic 10-40 or 15-50.

I picked a pretty circuitous route and arguably cheated slightly, but I'm going to get there

10-40? I was thinking of switching to a better oil I usually run 10-30, 10-40 you think would last longer?

for his climate? not ideal. that's a lot of friction modifiers.

That's it? I guess I drive the piss out of my car then

I haven't watched the video, but when you start the car from a COLD start, is it initially quiet, then the lifter noise starts up? If so, check your evap purge valve.

WOW, is like everyone was wishing he had bent his rods on the 19t, longbeach get a better supporting tune (if you have not already done so) get bigger injectors, and you'll be fine. I wish you were closer and see my 850r with a hybrid turbo @ 8psi  . You have tonsss of improvement, just watch when your booost comes in.

Follow what Hussein said, and you'll be fine!

Also, PLENTY people had 19t's for years running on a solid ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD turbo auto or manual. Just spend the $$$ and ya'll be fine.

Don't really know the back story on the OP but needless to say even with that crappy quality video I wouldn't say that is a bent rod

Sounds more like the typical low oil pressure tick out of the lifters

Doesn't sound like a rod problem to me either.

FWIW, there are a bunch of people on VS just looking to slam someone for not following the rest of the herd. Tons of people slamming him for running a 19T with a "cheap" off the shelf Inmotion tune. Then more people slamming Inmotion but the tune is for a 15G not a 19T, so if it was not good enough, it was not Inmotion's fault.

Longbeach and Falcone - like it or not you guys are two sides of the same coin. You jump on here and throw stuff out there that will undoubtably get you flamed.

Okay, proceed with the flaming. Posted Image

Thanks for the kind words,

I am 100% sure its not a bent rod, boost comes on strong and it still pulls like a mofo,

ticking goes away at about 3500 rpm and doesnt come back till rpms drop a little bit to idle and such

17 psi runs fine and breaks loose the tires no matter what, 11.9 af/r - never seen above 12 af/r at WOT

I am paranoid and its time for a new oil change, almost 3k on the oil and my pcv is all ghettoed up so Im sure its not helping

I guess ill start with the PCV as AverageVolvo suggested...*there are bubbles on dipstick*

If you read his posts, you would understand that he is being "slammed" for his comments. It has nothing to do with his setup.
