Sunday morning after driving 5 hours after work (17hr shift) on my way to Swedish Car Day 10, my friend is driving my car while I make an attempt to sleep. A friend who's driven my car before competently. However, as some of you may know the New England area was inundated with intense rain. 35 minutes after we switch to him driving, we make a lane change around a slight left turn to the left middle left lane so someone can pass us. We were doing about 50mph in a 65mph so speed wasn't an issue. halfway through the lane change the rear end slips out and my friend slams the brakes and tries to correct it. the rear passenger side then slams into the guard rail and bounces off then spins the other direction clipping the front wheel. after the initial collision we continue to do 360's through four lanes of traffic and somehow manage to miss EVERY car. after what could have been a deadly game of pinball, we slide another 200ft down the interstate and onto and entrance ramp and stop.
nobody was hurt thank god!
once the state police arrived, we had a flat bed come in and I got my lovely $103 ticket for "driving too fast for conditions" and he sent me on my way. The tow truck driver was nice enough to drop us off at hotel near the tow yard. A few hours later after considering out options, I rented a uhaul van and transport to tow the car back on... another $450! Being a sunday, liquor stores in CT are closed
but here are some pics of the damage

the quarter panel has been completely shifted about 1"-2" towards the driver side, theres even a buckle in the wider part of the roof support

ridiculous toe angle

there's also a nice mark along the entire passenger side from the guard rail
Now the fun part. I've been under my dad's insurance for the past few years and this week I was going to switch it to mine. Our policy for this car is just liability and bodily damage. So the only thing being covered is the tow to the tow yard. This will all be out of my pocket
is it worth the repair cost or, part and buy something else? motor has 80k chassis 120k
Big thanks to Ben (B Mac) for coming down to check on my Sunday night
