i seen guys cut springs here before but u will need to make the ends round, and u cant do that without heating them, and onceu heat them, the ride is going to suck cause well, your not supposed to heat springs.... ids say dont waste your money cutting HR springs .... they are great springs and they will settle in nicely...

I would say hell no- unless you want a crap ride... the springs are designed as they should be used- cutting them will completely destroy what there original purpose was for- if your going to cut any springs id recommend just cutting your stock ones and see for your self what crap it is.

I wouldnt spend money on quality h&r's to cut them- its just bad...

Coincidentally though i am getting rid of my stock springs- have about 130k on them (1996 850t) if you want something to play with perhaps i could sell em to you 4 cheap...

You don't want to lower 2", or else you'll need more $$$ to fix all your suspension problems...your alignment will need to be adjusted with a kit, your front axles will wear prematurely, your front air damn will scrape all over... 1 1/2 inches is still nice, and it looks good, and your stock suspension can still handle it.

Honda and Toyota can cut their springs cause there are about 8-10 coils on each spring so it's possible. Sorry not on a Volvo. Get IPD's set of springs and you'll be very happy.

Nothing wrong with cutting springs if it's done correctly.. You can safely take a half coil off of these springs.

Really, how do you know? Apparently I've missed something in the 4 years my V70 has been sitting lowered 2.5". I've never had my axles wear out, never needed a camber kit for my alignment (camber adjusts perfectly to -1 degrees), and never scraped my front air dam all over. Oh and it rides great.

I love all the mis-conception's on cut springs. Mine have been cut for 30,xxxkms plus, and love every tongue biting, spine shaking moment of it. I cut close to three coils off the fronts, and 2.5 on the rears. Now I break oil pans.

Geez what kind of craptastic toyotas do you guys have around you? I've been a Toyota guy most of my life, and around here (at least, the ones I associate with) do it right, we don't cut springs, please don't lump us in with those honda idiots that bounce all over the road.

Side note, the handling will be sacrificed on the cut springs, stock or not, up to you if you are willing to live with it or not. They tend to rebound more, or bounce more.

Your car must be broken, or your head, or maybe both. Plain and simple. I'd love to show you how bouncy my as$ is.

If you hack off 3 or 4 coils, then yes, the car will be bouncy and the handling will worsen. However, if you just hack off a half coil, you're not going to have any negative side effects.

+1. At one point years ago, I had Vogtland lowering springs with 1 top coil cut with Koni yellow, and the ride was fine for the 60,000 miles they were on the car. If it is kept within reason, i.e. 1/2 to 1 coil, it has little to no side effects. You may have more negative side effects if coils are being cut on old stock springs versus lowering springs or newer stock springs.

That Japanese guy with the extremely clean black 854 has front coilovers and cut rear springs.
I would ask him about ride quality lol.
