Awesome! Nice install, the direct port will give you a lot of tuning possibilities.

I have always thought a naturally aspirated 850 with a nice direct port setup could exceed what the chipped turbo cars are capable of...

So, are you going to spray off the line with the AWD?

Sure!

While your bottle is still full, and assuming the engine stays together, you could make 300-350hp for a short while.

When your bottle runs out you're getting spanked by little old ladies in stock 960's, and when your engine goes you're only as fast as the flatbed towing you home.

I've been in a awd talon that was built mimicking John Shepard's car. Both times I rode in the car were insane, first was a launch @ 80% throttle and I thought that was crazy. Later on I got the chance to be in the car when he launched the car @ 100% throttle and using a 80 shot and boosting something ridiculous. I have yet to experience a more exhilarating car...
Engine build is still up for sale PM me for details.

Looks OK.

You have minimum rpm & WOT failsafes?

I may missing something, but the distribution rails are mounted to the motor, not the body, right? If those lines to the nozzles are solid, I would expect engine movement to create serious problems..

A 50 s wet shot should be fine - I ran that on a 240TI with no issues. Above that, you'll be bending rods pronto if the failsafes are not in place

Yeah. For sure, if done correctly, it can work well. Many ppl think you just bolt it on and go; but for nitrous to be safe, it requires the same level of tuning and A/F monitoring as a turbocharged setup requires. The only way it would be "bolt on and go" would be something like a 40-50 dry single shot...something to use if someone is just barely walking you to make up the difference.

But since it requires that much tuning to run a big No2 setup anyway, plus the fact that once the bottle is empty you're slow again...turboing an N/A car can almost be cheaper and easier in the longrun, depending upon how you decide to do it.

You could probably put together a junkyard turbo setup for an N/A 5 cyl for slightly more than a direct port nitrous setup.

For some reason I thought you had a turbo. If its NA, forget what I said about 100 shots, or even 75, as those were done on a T5 with 8.5 compression.

I like how everyone got up in arms at first just on the fact that it's nitrous, not on any actual problems with the install. Entertaining but silly. Nitrous has a bad name from dumb kids. Tuning for it is not much different than any other tuning. You have more air and more fuel. It's actually NOT magic.
Imagine that.

As far as the install, I see you coming right out of the rail to the noid with no FPSS. You may want one as it's cheap insurance. You could also benefit from a quality filter prior to your nitrous noid. You don't necessarily have to mount the bottle correctly, as it stands it will still work, but you should at least be using a regulated heater to have somewhat consitant results. If you want to go up in power I'd definitely suggest a regulator after the bottle, though.
Also, I don't see a blow down tube. You will not go down a track without one as long as their tech inspectors aren't idiots. Even if you don't want to mess with that and only plan to keep the car on the street, make sure you're using a burst disk as some tanks ship with just a plug where the disk port is. This is not going to make you go faster, it's just plain safety.

Was that reason his intercooler pipe? ;)

The lines are floating and flexible, they dont seem to be moving too much in the shop with a stall rev. I am not running a rpm window switch, but I do have a wot switch and a delay box with push button mounted in the dash.

As far as bending rods, I dont think the rods will bend. I think the head gasket and intake gasket will blow first, it may also lift the head and break some bolts.

This car IS my daily, we are in the process of installing a trans cooler today. Maybe thatll keep us from killing the trans. If not maybe I can do the M66 conversion!

I have a 13g, whatever comes on the b5254t, running 12 psi at wot with mbc. I know there are better turbos but we had the nos laying in a box. I want a 19t and a good tune, I am not going to waste money on a used 15t or 16t rather save up more money and get the good stuff.

I am not trying to start a what turbo argument, so please lets not start that again!

It just seems the rods are the weakest link on these - I didn't even think about them on my redblock. I would think the massive torque increase would do them in prior to an overpressure situation blowing out the headgasket.

Anyhow, it'll be interesting to track the results, and it's great to see another modded DD AWD!! :D

I think it is sick. I can't wait to see the numbers. What is everyone's aversion to nitrous? Jees... some of you people make it seem like it will shoot nails into his engine or something.
