What did you use to join the hoses together? And I see you used hose clamps on the hard line junctions, no crimp. Can you buy the hard line and coupler with a hose barb or bead on it?
not sure, I just went quick and dirty, I cut the pipes, cleaned the ends off and installed the hose on it with sealer around it and clamped it, a couple thousand miles and 2 autocross events later and still no leaks

yes, I found during autocrossing the fluid was getting very hot, especially after a longer run (over 40 seconds) so I decided to install a external cooler

cool, looks awesome, I have the same problem, but since my PS tank was leaking I went with the bigger aluminium tank option.

where'd you install the PS cooler? With fmic and tran cooler can't imagine where you'd find the real estate

actually t5 I was asking you, but now that I look back at your post you didn't use a cooler you just used a larger reservoir made of aluminum. Any of you have before/after numbers on the PS temperatures?

nope, I can tell the difference a couple ways, 1: my fluid is no longer percolating out of the cap area after long runs and 2: at the end of my runs my pump isn't making the groaning noise it use to

oh, sorry about that...

my car is a 5 speed, no trans cooler... I only have a bigger tank for now but Im liking the PS cooler idea. Ill look into finding one of those coolers at the dealer, i would probably be installing it somwhere behind the grill in front of the AC rad.

but when real estate is an issue because you got to much stuff going on in areas with optimal airflow, I wouldnt mind installing a cooler like this where ever there is room ,the added fluid capacity alone is worth the install with the contents of the cooler and the hoses.

cooling will also be noticable if the cooler is simply far from engine bay heat...

I just gave a call to my local dealer to see if they had any of those tranny coolers lying around, they said they dont keep the stuff, and if its under a tranny is changed under waranty, the parts are shiped back to volvo...

anyways I got a quote from the dealer just to see, its 450$!!!! :o

I'll call a euro parts guy tomorow, but worst case there are tones of generic coolers available on JEGS for like 120$

also check out B&Ms stuff. Summit reps them and I'm sure JEGS does also. Good price and good coolers.

they don't call back the coolers, the trannys are the only thing that is shipped back, the lines and cooler are tossed, how else would we have gotten them, no way I'm paying any money for it ;)

I guess the parts guy is a douche... best thing i probably to walk up to the techs i the garage and ask them straight up. Anyway, I like the aftermarket one better because of space constraints... ill post some pics when I install it next week.

We are actually supposed to OPR (old parts return) all warranty parts, mainly so we can prove to volvo we made the repair and the parts were defective. They dont call for all of them but the parts guys are mostly complete and total f-tards and dont know what we have laying around the shop. Having said that, these are all aluminum so most of them get taken to the metal yard by the old scrap metal guys in the shop. I just got bored one day and wanted a trans cooler so i stole one.

as easy as 1-2-3, you just use the 4 rad tie-raps provided in the kit to tie the cooler to the AC rad, then you take the return line going back to the PS tank and insert the provided fiting into it, cut a piece of the provided hose from that fitting you just put in the existing hose and bring it to one of the tips on the cooler, add some clamps, that side is done.

Than you take the rest of the provided hose and insert it on the other tip of the cooler and bring it to the nipple on the PS tank. Clamp it as well, with provided clamps.

Thats it...

Its snowing like hell up here in Ottawa... the car is stored for winter, wont know how awesome this works until April
