Well the V70 doesn't have it's evap cannister behind the wheel well like so many other posts I have seen. It's above the rear subframe that requires you to lower the exhaust system to get at it. I saw on post where the guy smeared RTV silicon over the crack and got it to pass inspection. I almost did this, but got a new hose from the dealer ($29) and installed it a few days ago so I could pass the state inspection.
Here are a few pics of the process. From the "Post Preview" it doesn't look like they will be displayed in the correct order, but that shouldn't be an issue, all of the info is there.

Thanks for the write-up with pictures

I loathe changing this hose on P2's. <_<

undo the exhaust hooks, take off the 2 plastic nuts off the heatshield so it comes down a bit, loosen the rear suspension on each side 1-1 1/2" (1 big bolt each side). Get a die grinder with a carbide bit or something that cuts plastic/metal nice. Cut off that lip on the charcoal canister right flush with the actual box. Cut the clamps with the same bit and die grinder. Take hose off, put new hose on with gear clamps. Done! Generally takes 10 minutes.

edit: Or if you don't want to spend money, just cut down the lip on the charcoal canister, get the clamp off, cut the hose where its split and put back on with a gear clamp -- that's what ive done on both my cars!

Your still dropping the exhaust system, doesn't sound like grinding off the edges of the evap cannister saves that much time, maybe 5 min tops.
