I have a few quick questions

-is it possible to reuse/save the leather shift boot when taking off the stock knob?
-does any one have a picture of the top of the shaft?
-how is the stock knob attached?
-how hard is it to remove the stock knob?
-what is the diameter of the stock shaft?

Is there any thing else I should know about the shift knob that might be useful?

Thanks

NIck

Are you talking about an auto, or manual, knob?

Autos are easy. Pop it into neutral and pull really, really hard while depressing the shift button. It'll come off with some persuasion.

(You might want to open the sunroof so that you don't bang your hand when it finally comes loose).

For a manual iirc you have to remove the center console, the boot and knob are one piece. You should be able to do what you want by following that writeup.

so based on the link they do not screw on or off so how would you get it to stay on?

Get a universal knob, like Momo.

I used a piece of rubber that was just thick enough to create a sung fit between the two.
I haven't had it pop off on the way to third or fifth yet :)

If you want to remove the stock knob/boot, send me a PM, I made a write-up.

They are not one piece.
