V70 99 Would Not Move......... Left me stuck in the middle of the road!!!

I was driving the car and the Brake light came on about 1/8mile and the car started to slow down did not want to move the ABS light came one and then it would not move. Idle fine push the gas and the car would not get any rpms. Put the car in R and then back in to drive and it would move but it was like its stuck in 3nd gear and then the arrow deal for the tranny was flashing. Got home slowly about 3/4mile I had to go. I drove the car and if you put the car in L it seemed to work fine in 1st gear. I started the car about 5 times and then the up Arrow light went off. still have a check engine light on but it seems to be working just fine now. I know I need to see what the code is but any one have any Ideas on what it might be this is the 2nd time it has done this in the last 2,000 miles I would say.

Need codes to start diagnosing...

I thought you were installing a cable driven throttle?

Sounds like the PNP switch to me. Same thing happened on my S40. I would try a "ratchet" cleaning method as a temporary fix. Basically, with the car in accessory on engine off position shift quickly 10-15 times from P to L. Should clean the contacts enough to get around. Over time the contacts inside the switch wear and become unstable, if the connection is lost basically all you're left with is 3rd gear.

I remember spending about $130 total on replacement.

With the car idling in park it started to go wacko. brake light came on off in about 2sen and then the Up shift light came on then 2-3sec it goes off and then the ABS Light comes on and so on one off another would come one. Turned the car off and then started and it was fine well had the check engine light back on but it has been on some time.

With out codes and simply a guess...check your battery connections and charging system output. Loose terminal can cause havoc. Honestly doesn't sound PNP related.
