OK, I currently have straight-pipes on my car, but it is "stock". So from the turbo-back I have no cat or muffler but it is still a 2.25" diameter.
Now my question. Would I notice any gain besides sound in going to a 3" turbo-back straight pipe exhaust? Will increasing the diameter by .75" make a noticable performance difference?
I know people have a decent increase in going from stock to the 3" downpipe & 2.5" exhaust, but the only restriction I currently have might be the diameter.

Depends what turbo you're running. I don't think it'll make much of a difference if you're stock up front. Even with de-cat and downpipe, the turbo is normally the bottleneck.
I've got a 3" straight-through turboback system on the S70, with a GT3582R. It flows nicely. I had the 3" system with the 18T, and noticed a gain, but nothing HUGE over just the de-cat. (other than bending a rod on a boost spike :| )

3inch Turboback with all mandrel bends = the only way to go.
Now if only i could buy my OBX DP and afford 600$ for a shop to make a good system =p
