Facebook Event

What: Tail of the Dragon.
When: Dec 18th and 19th
Where: US129, NC143, & TN165, TN and Western NC.
Why: Drive the Dragon. If it's your first time, don't get bit. This trip is always tons of fun. If you need a reason, how about... 32 turns a mile. Winter is the best time to go, less bullshit. Almost no traffic, no motorcycles, less leaves, able to see through trees, etc... Oh, and good for forced induction.

recommend:

Cash
Basic tools for the worst case (Had a powersteering pump spring a leak on one trip)
Make sure your car is up to good driving condition, low speed high stress isn't nice on cooling systems.

So who's in? A few of my friends are already down, as well as a few from local forums here in NC. Anyone from VS gonna make it out?

Nope he's still got it!

niiice. I guess I won't bring any tools then. :P Just some extra power steering fluid.

Sounds good. There is a guy here on some local boards who has a S60R, he is planning on coming out but is marked as "tentative."

Looks like my friends and I will be staying at the Jameson Inn in Alcoa... Can't wait for this trip. Been too long!

Parade is next weekend, Travis. Dont forget! (Its the same night as my company Christmas party, BTW, so I gotta figure out a way to juggle them both)


I hate to piss on your parade guys, but with the rockslide on 40 at the TN/NC border and the one down in Cleveland, TN going into NC, the dragon has been seeing alot more traffic and brave semi-trucks. Its suppose to snow up there today too.

I heard this as well. Hoping for the best, otherwise we'll go cruising on some of the other fantastic roads. Last time we went up there there was a little bit of snow in some areas, and some water on the shaded parts of the road, but temperatures were high enough that it was nothing to worry about. Average highs for the dates are around 50 degrees. I'm not gonna put money on the weather, but the case of history, probability is on our side. :)

Hope for the best though.
