so which is better? i know the BOV gives you that cool WOOSH sound....but its almost 2x the money as an HD CBV.
is there any real performance gain for the BOV vs the CBV? I'm gonna be rebuilding my turbo and want to know what would be my best option. if its just a sound issue i guess ill go with the CBV cause i already have a cone filter and the WOOSH sound.
now if the BOV has some kind of performance added to it i might consider it.
car is a 95 850 wagon
plans for it...if they matter.
turbo rebuild with porting

the BOV seems to be a more solid part not as prone to breakage. my current CBV has a small hole in it.
can anyone tell me if they have had issue with the HD CBV and what PSI its running?
i seen the kits IPD sells i think had a 20psi+ spring? so im guessing i should be fine with just my cbv replaced?
my worries is that i will replace the CBV and then it will break and then i will have to replace it again which will be = to buying 1 bov kit.

you dont have to have a bov vent to atmosphere (the air) - you can have it setup to pipe the air back in just like a cbv (or do both) - except the bov is more durable and less prone to failure (unless you get an ebay cheapo - then its hit or miss) then the cbv
but keep in mind that a bov thats venting to atmosphere is releasing metered air - the car has already added fuel in relation to that measured amount of air and will therefor get real rich for a second when the bov vents - cranking it up to redline then taking your foot off the gas might result in an overly rich condition and cause a stall - however flooring it through the gears works just fine

i guess i was over thinking...i kept saying there had to be a reason other than sound that people went with BOV. i guess not.

its sound plus durability - not to mention that with the right bov it can handle 10psi , 20psi , 30psi and up - even if they make a cbv that can handle 30psi+ i would pick the bov of the two options strictly for duribility reasons - its up to you bro - but if you want the bov but DONT want the whoosh you can always port and polish the exhaust port on the bov and then vent it somewhere where the sound wont be as noticable (only works on bovs with the little horns for venting)
personally - once my boost levels break 15psi on my S60 , i'll be swapping to a bov (prolly a forge)
