Hello gents! Wow, my first time on a Volvo forum, go figure :-) I am a lifelong Saab guy, spent a couple years at the head of the SCNA and ran the 2002 Saab owners convention, so I know a thing or two about the other Swedish awesomeness.
A couple years ago, I purchased a bunch of go-fast bits from a fellow in New Jersey who'd had them on his 9000 Aero until it got rear-ended. Part of the package was a much, MUCH bigger turbo - a TD04HL-19T to be precise, out of some form of Volvo (so said the ID plate). The combination of his custom headers, massive aluminum intercooler and other bits got me 401hp at the wheels.
Now, however, I'm reallY REALLY in a bind. My turbo has blown, burning oil and not turning, and I haven't taken it off the car yet as I still need it to get around (I know, I know, I shouldn't do that, but this comes at a time when my 4 other Saabs are all down with one thing or the other.) I've spent all weekend and today trying to source a drop-in replacement, either from a yard or someone who rebuilds them, or at the very least a replacemnt center cartridge so I can yank it and do it myself. So far, I've run up against nothing but brick walls; breakers tell me no one ever gets rid of the 19Ts, and when they DO have them they cost $400 or more. The dealer wants $859 or so for one. Sadly, this is looking more and more like my best option.
That's why I come to you. You guys seem to be just the place to ask for such a thing, or know where I might find one. I'm not looking to upgrade it or anything, just a direct replacement for the one that's already in there. If anyone has any suggestions, has a used one laying around they want to sell off, knows someone who rebuilds them of offers repair parts, knows of a direct-fit temp replacement till I can save up enough to buy a new one...anything, pretty much, that you can tell me would be fantastic.
The Volvo plate on the turbo says it's a TD04HL-19T, model 49189-05410 (which I understand could also be a -05401, or a -05411). The Volvo part number I found for it was 8601693. If you have any suggestions, please email me at phil@lacefield.com or drop me a note here.
For those curious, pics of the install from a couple years back can be found here:

You can put the 19t wheel in the smaller turbos. So your best bet is to find a 16T or a 15g. Then just swap your exhaust housing on. You can choose to upgrade the wheel to the larger one or not. But if you dont atleast your wont be in a bind anymore.
You might find this helpful. The 15g or 16T came in the 850's and the 98-00 s70's. So pick one up at the junkyard for around 50 and upgrade it to the 19t wheel and you've just saved 200-400 or even more.

If you made 410 with a 19T, you would probably make 390 with a 15G or 16T.
