I know general used car things to look for.

It's a 2001, V70 T5 with new tires, 107k miles, timing belt was just replaced. $5k.

Is there anything in particular about the 2nd gen of V70 that I need to look for as potential problem areas? I know CV joints are hit and miss. But since it doesn't have AWD there are that many fewer things to break.

Thanks in advance.

I think i've heard that the transmissions go bad, but maybe that's just the second gen XC

my buddies 01 XC needed a new trans at 55K. I've heard other places that this a weak spot too.

Yes, auto transmissions were notoriously weak points in early P2 cars of all flavors (not just XCs). Nothing else comes to mind on an '01, unless by some miracle the ETM hasn't already been replaced.

Depending on where you live, some models are currently on recall to replace the fuel pump, which I found out after my longtime trusted mechanic charged me $600 to replace mine.

The transmissions are crap. I also have an 01 C70 T5 and it had to be replaced. That's about the only issue we've had, other than the light bulbs burning out at regular intervals...
