Hey guys, quick question.
My girlfriend's father recently passed away. The title to her car is in her fathers name. Does anyone have any idea how to get the title in her name? Do we have to create a bill of sale, or can we just bring a death certificate to the DMV and then they will just issue a new title?
This is in PA by the way.
Thanks for any help.

i wouldn't go the bill of sale way, you may get charged tax on the fair market value of the vehicle. did he have a will, by any chance, that might say who it's supposed to transfer to? that may provide enough documentation to get the car retitled.

Yup, that should do it. Make sure there are no liens on it. If there are, you'll need to inform the lien holders as well.
Thanks for your help guys.
