So I went outside to start my car a couple of nights ago, and it cranked a few times, and then completely cut out. It hasn't started since. The car's ignition switch was going bad, so I assumed this was the issue, replaced the switch, and it is still not cranking or starting. When I turn the key to "start" I hear a ding sound coming from the passenger side door area.

Other things: The car alarm does not function when I try to open the door locks through the windows.

sometimes the alarm on my 93 850 would be crazy....

If you haven't already, take the battery off for a while, make sure the battery is good and charged, and put back on.

Still no go, check the starter...

If none of it, maybe the alarm thing is important and theres an immobilizer? that or you have something open and that killed your battery to begin with (alarm wont work without all doors closed obviously, including trunks.

Or maybe its something to do with the ignition switch ? :x

dunno but im interested to find out what the cause is myself lol..i dig the good ole mystery no start no crank no driving to mcdonalds to get hamburgahs cases :P

There's a relay under the dash that looks like this: FCP Groton link

Try another one is you have a spare, or PM me if you need one. I just found 3 more in the garage, you're welcome to one if you find it to be your problem.

bang on the starter a few times. If it turns over, you're most likely gonna need a new starter sometime. :)

edit: wow my shit is completely irrelevant. Forget this post.

are you blinkers flashing?

immobilizer would have that going on first.

Was the switch new or used?

Was there a CEL before this occured?

The funny thing about this is that the last time this happened, I bought a new starter, and it turned out to be a broken sensor. This time, it really was the starter and I've already got it at the dealer paying ~600 to get it changed. Oh well.
