Hello, I just picked up a 1995 850 turbo and one of the service records indicates that it needs a new cat. Now i'm not sure which way to proceed with this. I wanted to put a higher flow system on the car, but absolutely hate the sound of wide pipe exhausts. So I'm optimally looking for what I should get to get a higher flow rate but as close to stock sound level as possible.

Would it be possible to just replace the cat with a high-flow cat and leave the stock muffler? Or get a high flow, stock sound muffler with the new cat? Would I also need a new wider down-pipe?

I saw FCP has some supposedly bolt-on OEM quality cats with down pipes on them, but it seems a bit pricey to be back at stock flow but with aftermarket parts instead.

Thanks.
