A while back, I had the good fortune of obtaining a panel insert kit which Volvo no longer provides. It didn’t have any directions so I’ve been winging it.

Here is what I’ve done so far.

Here’s the age old problem…

The toughest part was removing the plastic inserts for the window switches…

The trick is to use a heat gun to loosed the hot glue they use in assembly.

Cut around the old insert, and peeled it off…

Then with a wire brush, I removed all the remaining foam backing.

Applied adhesive to both parts

And pressed them together.

Seems to be a perfect fit, I’ll let it set over night to cure, then cut out the pockets and reverse the assembly process. The kit came with glue sticks, but I used a different adhesive, as what was in the kit had long ago expired.

Looks great so far man. What glue did you use, and how much does the kit cost? :D

Thanks, the kit was free; got if from a Volvo tech who was a pack-rat and told to clean up...I was at the right place at the right time. I used a Loctite product called stik'n Seal. It's supposed to stay flexible, which was one of the properties of the expired stuff in the kit. This was a one part adhesive.
