JL Audio 5.25 TR series front doors
Infinity Refrence 5.25 rear doors

neither required more work than using a couple self taping screws.

Rear shelf is custom made via me biggrin.gif

Factory Dynaudio mids/tweets and a JL 10w0 in a free air false floor. I used to judge in IASCA competitions and I love the sound quality.

Front Dash: disconnected
Front Door: 5.25 Visoniks Full Range (they were cheap, and they sound good, and i didn't care about audio at the time)
Rear Door: Stock
Rear Dash: Stock

i'll be upgrading to a sub, so bye bye rear decks, and probably get a new front door system. haven't decided which. 6.5's don't fit in the front doors do they?

not without some cutting. I'd consider putting in some kickpanels though if you want a good sound coming from the front, although you'd have to get someone to custom make you one..

i think getting 5.25's would be a better alternative
or maybe trying to fit the 6.5's in the rear doors...

Duno if that would be a very solid investment. The location of the rear door speakers kinda hinders them from creating the sound they should.. especially if there's people in the backseat.

If you're gonna buy 5.25's for the front door though, make sure they are a good brand.. I found a "deal" on ebay (Rockford Fosgate 5.25's for like.. 30 bucks) and figured that it would be at least a little improvement, but I saw absolutely no difference. Look for a good 3-way, Infinity or Boston probably makes some good ones.

i'm looking at infinity reference right now (i don't really need super kappa quality)
they're relatively cheap and (from what i've heard) have good sound quality

and i really really really need an amp. my visonik's are SO underpowered with my current pansonic HU

Fitted 6"x9" 250w pioneer's into the rear hat shelve. HUMUNGAS differance. Needed quite a bit of mods. Had to make extention boxes and fitted the OEM grilles. Driven by a 2x 400w Mosfet amp. Replaced dash tweeters with "Infinaty" piezo type tweeters. No mods needed there.

Does not look at all shabby, not too much work and DEF. worth the effort.

Front doors: Polk Audio db525 biggrin.gif - Perfect fit and sound MUCH better than stock (just heeded to flatten one mounting tab so the ofset screw mount could secure it - 10 second modification)

Rear doors: still trying to decide... sad.gif

96 850 GLT Wagon

Boston 5 1/4 components in the front doors,
tweaters in the front dash (slight mod on the tweaters to fit that cartridge.

Stock in the back for now.

Is anyone else rocking Bostons? or am I opening myself up to mass ridicule?

For a cheap but nice sounding upgrade, a simple component set like mine makes me a happy commuter. Without yet toying with amps or subs, a component set was the best thing I've done to the car.

That doesn't really benifit this thread in any way.

Why, on Crutchfield.com does it only tell me 4" speakers fit my car (1995 volvo 850 wagon)?? Would 5.25" fit perfectly in the stock locations?
