I just across this thread. I have an S80 in which I installed the factory fog lights. The relay is under the steering column and then added the fuse via the side dashboard site. But, Had to go to dealer to download program for car computer to recognize these lights.
Simple install, but dealer still had to get involved.

And one of the advantages to owning an 850. No dealer visit here, plug and play.

Can someone tell me where the driver's side fog plug should be hidden? I had the ambient air temp sensor mistaken for the plug. I know that I'm wired for them because I found the passenger side plug here, but I just need to find the driver's side now.

Is it in the same spot as the passenger's side?

Well, I'm pretty sure I have it all figured out now.

This was sent to me by someone on a different forum, and I think it thoroughly explains the 94s.

"
850 – FOG LAMP INSTALLATION
Early 850s were criticized for the lack of power emitted by the factory FOG lamps. Whether it was the wattage or lens design, the end result was the
disappointing effect of the lamps. Not to be confused with driving lamps or auxiliary lamps, FOG lamps are designed to direct light directly in front of the car
at the same time spreading the light to the sides. This in turn illuminates the road markings which become hidden in dense fog. Installing aftermarket FOG
lamps on the 850 is made easy due to Volvo providing pre-wiring from the dash to front of vehicle.
Running from the underdash and arriving behind the battery is a harness specifically available for FOG lamp installation. I installed “Maxim” FOG lamps that
are oval in shape and output 55 watts of white light. You will need four additional parts for the installation that are available from you local dealer. They
are:
1) Switch, PN 9128536 @ $37.21
2) Relay, PN 9494424 @ $37.81 (thanks to billy ray - the redundant part number 9134580 that was previously listed here is to be ignored)
3) Relay Harness, PN 9134498 @ $28.31
4) Lamp Harness PN 9134580 @ $37.81.
When purchasing your aftermarket lamps you will find that there is a wide choice of makes, styles and colors available. Everybody from department
stores to auto specialists sell lamps ranging from $50 to $300. My advice is to pay attention to the quality of the housing, bulb type, and ease of bulb
replacement. The “Maxims” that I purchased are made of steel, have a clear lens (white), and use the popular H3Posted Image 55 watt bulb. The type of bulb is
important as some manufacturers use odd bulb designs that are later hard to find and replace.
Begin by locating the prewired harness running from the under dash to the front of car. Inside the cabin, remove the knee bolster and search for a bright
yellow multipin connector hanging near the relays. This is where your relay harness plugs into. The other two ends of the relay harness are for the switch
and the relay. Where they connect will be obvious. The switch is intalled next to the headlamp switch. Remove the blank cover by popping it out and snap
the FOG lamp switch in its place. On my ’94 the blank cover took up two spaces and I had to purchase an additional single space cover to fill the remaining
gap. The relay just hangs in the air off the harness, so I tucked it up into the dash where it remains secure. If confident you can now return the knee
bolster or wait till the installation is complete in the event you need to return and check your connections. Under the hood behind the battery you will find the other end of the pre-wired harness. *****My Favorite part, I found it***** There is a dummy plug that needs removing and is a good indicator that you have found the right harness. The lamp harness plugs into this location. You will also find a ground connector hanging from the lamp harness. The female spade plug connects to any of the available male plugs that are part of a ground rail found at the same location behind the battery.
I ran the lamp harness down to the front spoiler, feeding the harness through available space found next to the radiator. The FOG lamps were screwed to the under side of the front spoiler in the spaces found either side of the licence plate space. You have some flexibility here to choose your own location.
Keep in mind that you need access to the bulbs when they need replacing. This alone narrowed my own choice and pretty much dictated where the
lamps were going to be installed. The lamps then plugged into the lamp harness. Finally the lamp harness was tucked up into the spoiler and held in
place using cable ties.
With the installation complete, my FOG lamps work independently of my headlamp switch (yours may differ) and the off/on switch illuminates and dims with
the rest of the instrument panel giving a complete OEM fit and finish. Special thanks to Joe Nash at the parts counter at VolvoPosted Image Villa, Hwy #7, for his advice
and valuable suggestions for installation."

I also found this connector after reading:

From here you need to either buy the required harness that runs to the fogs as well as ground, but I think it could just as easily be made.

I read this tread out of curiosity and had to check my 97 T5 and found that behind the blank was indeed a plug. So, if you have a 97 the connector for the switch should be there.

Bummer about the 94 not having one. I would follow the advise of the previous poster who suggested installing the pins and original harness to the on off switch.

Good luck on the install. I plan on installing them on mine in the very near future. Please let us know how it goes!
I have a 97 855T5 now, have had 6 other Volvos in the past. Sux I aint got um any more!

Already done. Luckily, I was able to find some one here who had this kit from when they were going to wire in their fogs on their 94. This is the harness that goes from the yellow plug under the dash to the on/off switch, it has all the relays already on the harness:

Now I just have to make a harness from the blank plug up front to the fog lights, which will be really easy. I'll post pics of it when it's all done.

Hopefully in a couple weeks they'll be mounted. I'm going to take off my bumper since I still can't get the R bumper to mount properly <_< so I'll probably just do the fogs then since I'll be able to easily see the mounting points.

Fog lights in, harness in, but the Fog lights don't come on. I have power and ground at the connectors for the fogs, when I flip the switch, I have not power/ground at the connectors, so I know the lights are getting power when they're supposed to. Is it just the bulbs? They look fine, but with the way things have been going today I wouldn't be surprised if the bulbs were bad. Any ideas? Could it be something else?

I'll try some new bulbs today then. Those would be nice, but I'm going to hold off until I do 3000k HIDs instead. :D

My understanding is that HID's fogs are really only cosmetic. Granted, they put out a sh*t ton of light. I am extremely happy with those bulbs I showed you and they cost a considerable amount less than a H3 HID kit

HID's in our projector foglights is actually quite pointless. Our projectors put out a small amount of light anyways, I do not think it would help much. Make sure you get H3C bulbs though. Upgrade the projectors somehow!

You happen to have any pictures of your car with those bulbs in?

Yeah, I know adding the HIDs won't amplify the light output much in the fogs, but I want the yellow, and if I'm running HID lows, I don't know HIDs in the headlights mixed with non HID, I think that looks too mismatched.

Not gonna lie, you could probably modify the hole for the fogs and put these in there B)

Actually, get Blazer Fogs.

http://cgi.ebay.com/...sQ5fAccessories

They have an amazing output and are HID ready. These, will actually make a difference. Find a way to retrofit them into the stock housings and you're done! At least you have OEM ones. I have ones off a Hyundai.... ::)

Wow, idk how to edit so here are a few pictures:

I'm planning on doing a TSX projector retro-fit at some point. I'll be buying Blazer Fogs to compliment them for sure :)

Stock fluted for sure. I want it to look stock and then require the double-take :P Right now I'm running 80W and 100W Hella Off-Road Bulbs with E-Code Lenses. Tomorrow I'm installing my 4300k 35w HID's from sharpHID for my lows and keeping my 100W hi's.

I've looked at quite a few TSX retro-fits and it looks moderately hard. Not to mention, the TSX projectors cost about $100 ea and D2S bulbs are $100 a pair
