the cable has more travel and more control. also it gets rid of the kickdown spring inside the cable.

all cars have the extra spot for the manual cable.

edit:

i just ripped out the auto one from the firewall and broke it since i didnt need it anymore. inside the car its very simple how it comes off the pedal, just slide the ball out of the clip. the just install the new one... you have to push pretty hard to get the clips to grab onto the firewall from the engine bay side.

Part number 9157600?

I already have the manual throttle cable, but since it came with the car, it's developing cracks in the outer sleeve that bother me

yes :)

That's correct, it has nothing to do with the cable. It's ECU related.

I haven't dug into my 2000 C70 this far yet, but does this affect 99+ cars?
I'm not sure if my '00 even has a throttle cable, does it? HaHa
I bought this '00 C70, drove it home, parked it in the shop.
But I've spent hundred$ on new parts for it. Even have a low mile M56H for it.
The warmer the days get, the more enthused I get to rebuild it though.

99+ has the ETM, no throttle cable

I'm not sure, but i believe the ME7 cars need to have the ecu retuned for a manual swap.

I can see that using the outer bobbin will give more precise throttle control, since it's moving further away from the pivot point, but have you checked to see if it actually opens the throttle further? After all, it's only 90º maximum. I've never checked mine (auto cable) with a helper to see what the widest angle is via cable from the gas pedal.

I dunno about yours, but my throttle pulley has two stops on it, 90º apart, one that acts as the resting point when your foot isn't on the pedal, the other prevents you from flooring it too far, and closing the throttle again.

Hi

I'm aware of the base stop for the bobbin.

There's a stop on the throttle plate lever; it can't open past 90º no matter what the bobbin/cable do.

the question is whether the cable properly adjusted, can actually open to the full 90º with either setup. The only obvious difference is better modulation due to improved leverage on the outer track.

the way that the throttle cable mounts to the bracket you wouldn't be able to install it on the the smaller side of the throttle. it would come in at too much of an angle and rub
