No idea how this happened.

About 1cm in length. Located right about in the middle of the dash. I assume a vinyl repair kit would do the trick?

Excuse the cell phone pics.

looks like a dry crack, do you condition the pleather?

i've never tried those vinyl filler kits before, and i doubt the repair will be up to your standards...

maybe source a new pad?

You're better off sourcing another pad.

That looks like a dry crack like Travis said. A vynil or leather repair shop can fix it, but you'll probably end up paying more to have it fixed than you would buying another one at a JY.

Use some rubber dressing on the dash from now on, it'll condition enough to avoid these issues.

OK, thought of something:
You can patch it, Napa sells a 1/2 decent vinyl repair kit. Knowing your attention to detail, you could pull it off. The key would be to also spray the whole dash pad with some vinyl paint afterwards. I just did a dash pad that way 2 weeks ago, took my Porter Cable to it with some compound and wax and it's perfect, it's an exact match to our original ones.

Thanks for the help you guys. Going to try a repair kit first, just to make it less noticeable. But will ultimately try to get one from a junkyard.

i had my old Mustang dash "re skinned" in leather years ago. don't know how the shop did it or what but it was only 150. and my dash was all cracked up and lifting. it looked 100% original when i got it back

Hey Serge, the local Oakland Pick N Pull has a few 850s there right now and if I remember (I was there a few days ago), the 850s still had their dash covers. You may want to take a look.
