i would really like your feedback on what i did when I did my trailing arm bushings
I started to follow this procedure but felt it was unnecessary to do all it said.http://volvospeed.co...howtopic=111546

Once I got the old bushings off (I did both sides), I positioned the bushings on their respective flanges first. Then I positioned the arms where they should be.
Once the arms were in place I start each 18 bolt by feel. Each 18mm bolt head is accessible by way of the opposing arms access hole. They threaded fine. Then I torqued them down IN PLACE. Then I tightened the 21 mm nuts....done
No twisting arms or disconnecting brake lines, compressing springs etc, etc

Oh, and I didn't torque them to spec. but they are good and tight. no problems. no noises.

I don't know guys...seems to have worked fine.
Let me know what you think.

p.s. is there someone here who knows what the official Volvo procedure is on this job?

I suppose that's a clever way to do it if it works. Goodjob!

You now need to get a 4 wheel alignment. The bushing position determines the rear wheel toe in.

You may want to secure your bump stop. :)

Got a big cock? Let me see it!

Thanks. Yes it worked for me :) it seems like I saved a huge amount of frustration over what others have experienced.
I am not sure, though, if it is the same with other models (S70 or AWD or even other model years. Mine is a 1995). This is the only front wheel drive Volvo I have owned.

...roger that , ...Lee. This job was done about 2 months ago.
I also bought 4 brand spankin' new tires. And the 4 wheel alignment was part of the purchase price of the tires.

So, now with all new struts and shocks, bearing plates, shock mounts, trailing arm bushings and tires this car is driving like NEW!
and with almost 240,000 miles...that is saying something.

One other thing. You guys and the info you provide and advice provided has given me the confidence to perform such costly and in-depth service to my car.
i.e. PCV system, A/C service, MAF sensor, etc, etc....
I cannot thank you all enough! So I hope I never step on anybody's toes offering what little knowledge I have to others in search of help. I am only trying to repay the favor.
