OK, I have to slam the heck out of the tailgate on my 850 wagon to get it to shut, sometimes 4 or 5 times. I know I'm causing more harm than good.

The tailgate does not rattle, and it not loose once closed. I looked closely at the latch on the door and the floor and both look OK with no obvious cracks or bends or anything like that.

Is there a way to adjust the tailgate? I was thinking maybe the latch just needs to be tweaked to one side or front or back a little.

I have seen on here before where people just say to "avoid using the hatch during the winter" but that's one of the reasons I bought the wagon - I will be using the hatch almost daily!

Thanks!

Hi Slater,

Do you mean to close or to get the door open warning light to go off? Did you try some lubricant like White lithium grease on the hinge and lock mechanism? Should be lubed every 10k miles or so, more in extreme conditions or heavy use.

Yes, the lube is the first thing I tried. This is something mechanical in nature with the latch on the hatch or the catch on the floor. I have a feeling it's out of alignment. I just got VADIS 2004F+ today so I will look up how to adjust the alignment of the latch and see if that fixes the issue.
