I'm finally getting aorund to replacing the SAS and am running into a problem. As Bay 13 describes, on the turbo model the 2 10mm bolts are a PITA. Well the aft bolt is easy, the fore bolt is about as impossible as you can get. I'm heading out to try to find a stubby 10mm.
Next, when I ordered the parts from FCP Groton, it shows you need 1 clamp (large one) of 1 p/n and 2 clamps (smaller ones) of another p/n. Well all I see is the need for 2 clamps. One is the small 3/8 or so for the small line which none of the clamps they say you need are it. The only other clamp you need is 1 of the 2 medium sized and that larger single clamp doesn't appear anywhere near the SAS.
Any tips? I had to cut the small clamp but I'm sure I can come up with something for that one at least until I can get the right clamp. Any idea what they say you need that large one? I'm thinking they asume you'll replace the larger hose and need 2 of the others but you'd think they would include the hose as a recommended part as well.
Any easy tips for that foreward 10mm bolt?

let engine warm up... turn off. spry the bolt with PB blaster, or Kano Kroil, or some other GOOD penetrant (NOT WD40) let engine cool... Lube up in elbow grease.. talk dirty to bolt. good luck!

LOL
Actualy the other bolt popped right out easily. I just need to to get something on it. I ran to Sears and the ONLY metric stubby they were out of was a 10mm

Well I had to go to another Sears but I got the last 10mm stubby they had!
Got it done except the clamps but the big hose was like fitting cement and the little one was, although a little more plyable, was just as tight to get back on.
Cleared the CEL and it hasn't returned so far. Now if I could only find where that blasted socket fell and lodged!

I believe the large clamp connects the intake hose from the air box to the pump, on the intake side. Unless you're replacing the pump too, probably no need to buy it.
