bad xmas for me everyone,...my 95 850turbo broke down!!! sad.gif
i was hauling jerk down i-95 like doing 80-100 whole way down from delaware to virginia (yes i got pulled over in va..but thats besides the point)..and had smoke coming from the serp belt and ac compressor!!!...not good.
then stopped..tugged on the belt and it broke and the compressor was locked the f--- up!!...

i dont want to have to sell the 850 for something else,..but...
i cant be left stuck somewhere everytime i go out.

now volvospeed...what do you think is the cause??..wear and tear? i'm no mechanic by any means,..but just want to get my baby back on the road unsure.gif

help anyone??

ever had the compressor replaced? could be that it froze and took down your belt

dirty k+n cone + kevin's old ghettorigged heatshield (need to move onto slater's "ghetto" style setup)
bfg trac t/a 205/50/16s (pretty decent for a standard tire but they're no toyo)

All is not lost man! Glad to hear your okay, and that the belt did not take anything out other than the compressor. Someone here had their serp belt take out their tbelt and bend some valves.

Ac compressors dont necessarily fail at a point, ive got over 170k on mine, just sounds like bad luck. If your tryin to pinch the pennies see if you can have your mech take it to a place that specializes in rebuilding them.

I think the turbos are generally a little harder on everything, so that may have something to do with it. The best way to not be stranded is to listen for noises and take the car in when you hear them. Actually thats one big piece of advice Irv Gordon (the 2mil mile p1800 guy) had.

good luck with the repairs, and glad to hear your ok.
