What The Hell happened after I left at Bobs? what the hell is Chuckanut drive? Is it like a My-type-of-driving thing?

I would use the picture in my sig, but what is the point?
View Post

We went to a park by Chuckanut, we took the group picture, Nat's car overheated and then was fixed, then we did the drive.

Where did you go after Bob's? You missed out man.

And here is how wide the sig was BEFORE I sized it down... People would get mad at me posting a sig that is 2592 pixles wide...

I was lucky to see the Metro pulling out as I was slowing from 100 to take the corner.  By then the road was a 35 zone.  Unfortunately, 35 mph seemed to be above its max speed.
View Post

I went flying by it at about 75-80, and I got to watch them pull out behind me, and James and I go "oh sh1t...". Thank god for good brakes, eh?

QUOTE(PullMyFinger @ Feb 28 2005, 05:00 PM)
Chuckanut is a BLAST at 80mph!  biggrin.gif  and a buck twenty on the 25mph farm road? fun, but stupid. Glad my g/f didn't come along.
View Post

Yeah, Chuckanut rocks. The sport bike passing the entire line of Volvos was pretty badass at the first Chuckanut meet... Jake remembers that one, as well as all the people in that restaraunt at the hairpin remembering Jake.. biggrin.gif darn though, the one tight section was pretty puckery... I kind of felt like tucking in the rearview mirrors, it felt so tight through there... Especially at 70+.

I knew we were hauling jerk when I looked over at the freeway and we were passing the cars on the freeway. I noticed a few suprised faces in passenger seats.
95+ (km/h, of course... ph34r.gif ) in the vacuum wagon!

SO THAT'S WHY HE WAS GOING SOOOO SLOWLY!!!

that, and maybe he didn't want to run into a rail guard...
View Post

He had steelies with winter tires... Those things just grab the road tongue.gif I probably wouldn't have gone so fast down Chuckanut, but I HAD to keep up, otherwise people behind me would have been mad tongue.gif Miles got mad anyways (which I am sorry for unsure.gif )

From what I hear of your driving, it is exactly like that. laugh.gif

That road is unforgiving also. Flimsy guard rail and drop off on one side, rock wall on the other. 0 shoulder in most places. It is usually closed for a few weeks a year to clear rock falls.
I haven't driven that road in years, but I ride my bike on it at least 10 times a year.
It was best we waited so long before driving it, otherwise it would have been just a cruise with all the traffic on such a nice day.

I have seen a Ferrari group on Chuckanut also, with a lone Pantera tagging along in the back. 25 of them at least.

Another cool place to run up there is up to the ski area at Baker. I ride my bike up there at least once a year. The last 7 miles to the top is mostly switchbacks. There are long straights in the trees next to the river before you start the real climb also. In the summer a lot of motorcycles go up there, and you can hear them screaming in the valley below as they start their climb. I have seen a Honda group go up there, S2000s and NSX, the ones that have enough torque to make the climb. laugh.gif

That is a fun drive... it's really fun when there's a foot of fresh on the ground, and there's 12' of snow piled up on the sides of the one lane road! white knuckle!

I remember when we were at the waterfront park in that parking lot turning around, some kids were pointing at the Volvos and saying "look, there is a yellow one, haha" tongue.gif

As we left that lot, people said "look at the Volvo group", I was very tempted to say "We aren't a group, we are a Crew! THE NW VOLVOSPEED CREW!" But, I didn't since we ended up being stuck in the lot for a little longer...
