Last night I was driving my '97 850 GLT and everything was going smoothly except that the gas light was on. I started the odometer when the gas light came on and stayed on and it was at around 30 miles. As I was coming around a corner and into a gas station the engine started to get a bit jumpy and had a delayed response when accelerating. When I stopped the car it also had a rough idle speed. I disconnected the air mass meter and the check engine light is on. Can anyone help me? I don't know where to start.

Is it still idling rough? First, have your codes read at any auto parts store and come back and tell us what you get. It could be a number of things, but codes narrow the list down A LOT.

Fill the car up with gas and see what happens, it sounds like you were running out of gas.

if you started the odo when the gas light came on, and then you went until the odo said 30, then you were out of gas buddy...fill it up, crank, and you're fine...when that light comes on, it means you have about 1.5-2.0 gals of gas left, hence about 30-40 miles....
